In regards to player visibility: I feel like it would be much harder to make players stand out with current technology. Back then, the background textures tended be significantly blurrier and made the players stand out. It has been so much harder seeing players in newer games.

I don't think any future game will ever be like the original DoD because shooters have evolved way past that type of gameplay. The only way it might work would be if Valve backed it like they have CS:GO, which I find doubtful. Hopefully this one will get traction though.

Public CS servers have always been a haven for cheaters....it is not something specific to CS:GO. The problem is that more invasive anti-cheat detection methods get cried about (most likely by cheaters and those who create the cheats because cheats = $$$).

Honestly though the biggest criticisms I've heard about those mice is the acceleration that comes with the laser sensor. I actually have a Xai that I shelved because of it. But if it works for you, it shouldn't matter. They aren't that expensive if they do break.
