Re: headsets
honestly, from what i've heard/read the Siberia v2 have shitty wiring and go bad within a year. and the 5h blows. just spend like $15 extra and get sennheiser hd555s and they will last u 6 years easy. i've thrown, dropped, stepped on,ran over them with my chair and they still work fine and have better sound quality then the v2sryanemo wrote:should i get the steelseries 5h or steelseries siberia v2? my siberias are pretty much taking a shit on me so, looking at getting a new headset today

Re: headsets
hd555s are the way to go.
edit, that being said I've been using nice ear buds for the past few years since my 555s died, they perform perfectly fine.

Re: headsets
Honestly I had both of those headphones and I always come back to Sennheiser
I currently have a pair of these http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD515- ... 018&sr=8-1 And I think they have great sound quality and are extremely comfy.

Re: headsets
I use a SteelSeries 5HV2 with USB 7.1 soundcard and it feels all good. However if I had the money to grab a Senheiser I wouldn't think twice! The sound quality is just e-mazing!

Re: headsets
i had the original DSPs when they came out, those things where awesome.
either way, i like my audiotechnica 700s and a cheapo mic. would never go back to a headset after experiencing the difference in sound and quality.

Audio Technica AD700s: http://www.amazon.com/Technica-ATH-AD70 ... 568&sr=8-1
or
Sennheiser 555s: http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD555- ... 614&sr=1-1
Both will last you for yearsss without breaking, and if they do break, both companies have great CS to replace them.

Re: headsets
sennheiser is the best. get those + desktop mic (they're like 10$ or less). music is so much better with legit bass in your headphones.

Re: headsets
ryan, I'll trade you my coL edition SteelSeries 5H v2 headset for modeling nudes
Re: headsets
I might take you guys up on some of the advice here, my headphones suck balls, I can't tell the difference from infront or behind me in games sometimes, which can be troublesome. I currently have the Creative Fatal1ty gaming headphones, they're comfortable and last a while, but the surround sound I guess would be the problem.

Re: headsets
Surround sound is a combo soundcard/headset deal. I'm not sure exactly how you get that working.k4b00m wrote:I might take you guys up on some of the advice here, my headphones suck balls, I can't tell the difference from infront or behind me in games sometimes, which can be troublesome. Re: headsets
i was using hd555's held together by duct tape at socal 7 lol.. i've used icemat siberias, ss 5hv2s, ss siberia v2s, steelseries 7hs, sennheiser hd555s, and the razer carcharias.. my favorite for gaming has been the siberia v2s because they're comfortable and sound great for $70.

Re: headsets
Siberias will only sound great for gaming, period.. unless you're partially deaf. The range and soundstage just aren't there. The headsets are also notoriously bad in holding up long-term unless you're lucky. Either the mic and/or one ear will go out within 1-2 years. Since they're overpriced (imo) at around $90.. why NOT get headphones that are good for more than just gaming?
k4b00m, tell us you didn't actually pay for something with the Fatal1ty label

Re: headsets
No haha, I didn't even know who he was until months after I had them, I just asked the guy at the store for the cheapest gaming headphones a while ago. $40 and they've lasted me about 2-3 years. Not too shabby, except the whole getting shot in the back thinking they're infront of me lol.rehpyc wrote:k4b00m, tell us you didn't actually pay for something with the Fatal1ty label
