1911 Vent

I think it would be pretty cool if we could find a server sponsor to give the 1911 DoD Community a ventrilo so that we don't have to have multiple vents being used.

I think a 250 man vent would be fine even at peak match times.

A lot of server companies have taken a huge hit lately, people haven't been buying servers in the CS 1.6, CS:S, and TF2 communities because most of those gamers use ESEA which basically makes it so your team doesn't need a server. Well, DoD isn't so privileged so whichever sponsor decides to hook the community up would be the main go to for DoD servers.

Think about this idea and post what you think.

Personally I can say that the vent server would run slow but if setup well could be clean and organized.

I've had a game server from your company for a while now. I have had a few bumps in the road as far as performance, but everything since then has been satisfactory. Thus I find myself recommending nfo servers to newly formed teams or clans in the game I play ( Day of Defeat 1.3). The community for this game, largely centered around the nineteeneleven forums (http://nineteeneleven.org/forums/), is clamoring for a unified ventrilo or mumble server to host all of the teams for our game, all the time. A 150 or 200 slot Chicago server would be ideal. This garners you space for more advertising, as well as virtually solidifying your position as the sole high performance tier supplier of Day of Defeat gaming servers. As a community, we are pretty much at the point collectively where whichever server company decides to help us along will in return get all of our business. Added to that will be the possibility of team sponsorship for leagues: ESL, TPG, and DCN. Just wondering if this would be a possibility.

according to NFO, $42 a month - $500 a year for a 200slot vent.

so basically we need someone who has access to servers and is willing to host us a vent.

doesnt have to be nfo, gameservers, nationvoice ect, if you want a free one make sure you emphasize that they would be supporting the entire DoD community.. they could also use it as a test server. again- id be more than willing to fork the cash out if it's used.

I'm sure you can have your own team's channel with a locked room so you won't have to bother with everyone else, but it is useful to asking team's to scrim if you see a team on in their channel, you can just drop in and ask them.

Id like this to get scrims and this way you cant run from flawless when they ask to scrim you , but I could see it back firing with admin abuse and the occasional spam from you know who ^.-

I think we should try and make a big thing out of this and post it on the website with a walk through on how to install and use ventrilo. I am sure someone can find a premade guide where we can just add the 1911 vent info.
