A reputation system will be able be a part of the next update. You'll be able to thumbs-up/thumbs-down topics and posts. If you get thumbs downed enough it automatically bans you for 10 days. If you get thumbs-up enough it eventually gives you some limited moderator access.

It takes a long time for it to swing a user one direction or another (ban or promote), it's pretty well designed.
