you know being the fat kid in a 12man is ok. But being Mr. Irrelevant in a tpg draft of 80+ players. That just hurts.

1. we could barely get 10 people to 'captain' let alone 12.
2. i wasn't going to just let ANYONE be a captain.
3. for the 9th time... we had 8 teams of 10 last draft and my team was probably the only team that DIDN'T have to use a ringer.
4. yes, it is suppose to be fun but it should also be competitive.
5. i would like to limit the use of ringers but it is also lame to have ff's or have to play 5v6..
6. this wont be the last draft lets so how this one goes.

1. Why not just let someone pick people? If this is for competition, everybody knows who the "good" players are.
2. See 1. You might as well let people who are willing to sit in a vent channel with the others and pick names.
3. For some reason this just doesn't make sense to me (maybe because I didn't play in the last draft). If you sign up, why not show up? It seems simple enough. But in order to prepare for this to happen, we have teams with, say, 8 active players who all signed up to play the entire thing.
4-6. Nothing to say, makes sense. I'm not trying to question your ability to run any of this. I'm just confused. :)

Lack of time stamps, obviously false. It is somewhat true, though. I signed up for the draft to play a tournament between tpg seasons. If I end up not playing the matches because we have too many players, it would make me not want to sign up for the next one.

Not a TERRIBLE idea to allow ringers from the pool of players taken in rounds 6-9.

Better yet, get a few servers with 20 spots. Let all ten people on each team join, but only 6 join the teams. Everybody can sit in spec and sub in every few minutes.

It is kind of strange how you have part of the second round of the bracket playing Lennon on the 13th, but teams that have a bye (Logic Land/Anzio) play Anzio on the 16th?

I was giving him shit about the draft taking too long. So I had him squeeze matches to make it as short as possible. So you can blame that on me. The longer the draft the longer we gotta wait for season 27.

Yeah, just seems strange to have teams play different maps in the same round, shouldn't all the 2nd round matches play Anzio?

I also don't think it's the end of the world if you have to push Season 27 back a little bit. Might be a bad time to start back up right away anyway with the holidays around the corner.

I can't control it actually. You just plug in the seeds and Challonge programs the bracket for you according to what type you want.

Explain this fucked up shit for me, Professor. Some people play week 1 on lennon and some don't?

just simply look at the date... there are no seedings so who ever who plays who in the lower bracket doesnt really matter.. there are matches sunday on both lennon AND anzio.. on the 13th.. the losers of those matches will play on the 16th on harrington.. the winner of the lennon matches advances playing the teams who got a "bye"

Basically, yes.

There are only ten teams, so there is essentially a play-in round, as the top 6 seeded teams do not play in the first round.

Where I got confused is that he scheduled the 2 first-round matches and the first 2 second round matches on the same day. So on the 13th, both the 1st and 2nd round are being played at the same time. The second round is then finished later.

It's pretty wacky, it would be a lot better if you could come up with some more teams, and have a full 1st/2nd round.

Then why not add two more teams/captains and redo the draft? It will not only make the brackets/dates easier like Sears said, but stop people from complaining about how there are too many players and not enough teams. I mean, I personally think that the teams might be stretched enough already, but if that's what the majority wants, then TPG should take it into consideration.

I second Jules. Draft is supposed to be fun with everyone in the community participating. Have 10 people which likely 3 or 4 will not participate is just lame. I'd be down to redo the draft with 16 captains (with people like ryanemo, taylor, etc) beind the additional captains... C'mon this is meant to share experience with other players, and the way its was build it'll be fun for just a few who were good and got picked before.

Besides though it would delay the tournament start it would also ensure that next TPG season would be in January. Starting TPG in december for playoffs + 1 week is just boring because we will have the christmas + new years eve break.

A "play-in round" based on seeds? Where did seeds even come from.. how were they allocated? Pick a number of teams that fit a properly structured bracket. This may not have every player chosen for a team, but then you simply have them in a list that gets randomly selected from if a team is in need of a ringer.

All I know is jared is going down on Anzio.

All I was saying is that 10 teams makes for a strange double-elimination bracket because you have 6 teams that don't play in the first round.

When you are running a double-elimination bracket, you have to assign a number to each team that tells you were they go when they win or lose. Normally this would be the result of seeding, but in our case it's random.

I wasn't saying that you chose to have a "play-in round", just that one is essentially created when you set up a 10-team double elimination bracket (because only 4 teams play in the first round).
