The beanie could hold the ear pieces closer to block the outside sound more, maybe?

Close enough. I had sennheisers that didn't have enough padding so after ~6 matches my ears would hurt. I wore the beanie under the headphones as extra padding.

The only reason we had a shot was because the map designer limited the puddles for you to prone in to a reasonable number like 8.

realistically you didn't have a shot. had we not given the match up we would have easily won that map.
