Re: Potential Lan Ideas
hipster move: who tries to make an argument about people that have passed away. Some of the players that passed I personally didn't know. However, I won't go out of my way to say that I don't know them and then argue about why I shouldn't remember them on other peoples terms.
People who have come and gone from this community, whether you knew them or not, they were still part of this community that you are still part of. If somehow they came back, which some have been doing, there will always be a open door. Even when there's a lot of dirty shit behind that door.

I think the ones in that picture fell apart a year or two ago. That picture is from 2008 :}Swiss wrote:actually can i step in here. i must say that alex's avatar is close to hipster but does raise a few questions regarding the level of hipster-ness:
exhibit A) the converse are not dirty enough nor are they close to falling apart.
exhibit B) although the jeans are well worn they are not skinny jeans or even slim fit, a questionable hipster choice
another question: what is the wood that you are resting your shoes on? it looks almost like a church pew, and if so, then definitely hipster. i would applaud you.
I don't wear skinny jeans or even slim fit. I wear normal jeans/boot cut.
AND the picture was taken in Vegas. Yikes.
I feel like you didn't read a fucking word I said. No surprise here. Also abundantly clear that you don't know what "hipster" means and you just toss it around like everyone else these days. As if anyone who makes a point of contention = hipster.Polak wrote:hipster move: who tries to make an argument about people that have passed away. So because someone didn't know a guy, and he doesn't see why he personally would have the need to tag the guy in remembrance, he's a hipster? lol..

I'm inconsiderate, immature, and a hipster. All because I said I would feel awkward tagging up [ox] in a DoD match. Not that I bashed on the idea of OTHER people doing it, or bashed the man himself, or the fact that we're already donating to a fund in his name. No. Me saying that I would feel weird putting up the front that I knew ox by tagging up his name, something that is probably more reserved for people who actually knew him, makes me an inconsiderate hipster.rehpyc wrote:So because someone didn't know a guy, and he doesn't see why he personally would have the need to tag the guy in remembrance, he's a hipster? lol..

what is a professional adult? why have you always enjoyed portraying yourself as dumb over the internet? how did you gather that kirk was 'complaining' if you didn't read his posts? we're still wondering how creating argument makes one a hipster.

Re: Potential Lan Ideas
hipsters actually dont need to argue for the most part, they enjoy their place outside of society and therefore have little to argue about unless it is about the environment, organic food, obscure novels/books/artists/bands, or philosophy (you have to agree with me on the last one, alex)polak wrote:hipster move: who tries to make an argument about people that have passed away. Most hipsters don't know shit about philosophy, which is why they love Nietzsche. I think their aim is more to know as little about everything possible as to appear to be cultured rather than actually trying to learn it. "Superficial learning," if you will.

Alex, you're a tool. You were a tool on the old forums and you're just as much of a tool on these forums. Like I said, nothing has changed. You bring nothing to this community other than a billion posts that have nothing to do with anything other than you trying to impress everyone. You voice your opinion just so you can make another post. You don't even really give a shit about the topic. Are you even going to show up to this LAN? 9/10 of your posts arent even about Dod or the community. And thats whats never changed. I kinda stepped away from the community for a bit and every so often when I checked back on the forums...it'd just be 1,000 douchebag posts with you and those other two idiots debating politics and arguing with people for the sake of arguing...accomplishing nothing but making the community less desirable to be apart of. Why do you think Sears re-started 1911? Because gotfrag turned into a giant piece of shit because of people like you and he wanted to bring the REAL community back to DoD. Unfortunately you came along too.
Everything about my statement applies solely to you. I can dig up of any of your millions of posts from the last 2 years, and they will all be about the same old bs. This thread is a perfect example.

Clearly, you know nothing about me. What hasn't changed is ignorant people voicing their ignorant opinions about things they don't know about. I have done things for this community, believe it or not. I don't really have to sit here and justify it to you, because anyone who knows me would say I have done things for this community. But to name a few: working with CEVO and actually paying the registration fees for other people, w2z organization, GotFrag staff, etc. Now 1911 staff, and also owner of the main server and ventrilo used today (along with one of the more popular ones from 2005-2009 or so). But apparently just because I have fun on a public forum by putting on a sarcastic and cocky demeanor (something I'm sure lots of people YOU played with have done, too, and you probably didn't bitch them out), it means I have contributed nothing. Good call.
And if you think that's why Sears remade 1911, then you are furthering my point that you are ignorant. Considering he took part in the big ol' political thread weeks ago! And considering he trolls various members as well. Strong LoL at thinking political debates are detrimental to an online gaming community. Question: did the original 1911 have shit-talking?
But hey, go throw a temper tantrum because I politely stated that I would feel weird tagging up someone's name who I didn't actually know personally. Go re-read my initial comment regarding that topic.

I'm not trying to battle for supreme ventrilo crew in DoD. Tenks said I have contributed nothing to this community when in reality I have owned a ventrilo that served as a staple of the DoD community for a total of ~5-6 years. I give a channel to anyone who asks (even people I don't like), I give my server/vent rcon out to responsible people so 12mans/matches/scrims can be played even if my team is not present. This among the other things I listed, of course.dane wrote:the only real and main ventrilo for dod was RVC and that dated back before 2005. I'm willing to bet that in terms of the amount of "good" a ventrilo can serve, mine have served as well as RVC ever did. Disregard skill level of the people occupying the vent as that is irrelevant, and looking at the number of teams that have been given a channel in my vents over the years.
Simply saying for tenks to declare I have done nothing for this community is laughable considering I have done more than 95% of the people who have ever touched it. But I act like a sarcastic ass on the forum, therefore I'm worthless. Got it. Strong logic is strong.
