probably doesn't want to partake in a website in which he won't be given power to dictate what gets posted or not

Welcome to the entitled States of America. Moral rot from the inside.

Just think how a group of people like that will crumble once under pressure in the real world. Useless.

The entitlement isn't any different than Gen X or Baby Boomers.

Yeah, that's the problem.

The "greatest generation" destroyed the moral foundation of this country by being terrible parents. Then again, they destroyed just about everything else with their selfish, gross mismanagement so I'm not at all surprised.

Not really sure I'm buying this. Going through the Depression, WW1, and WW2 and having a new found sense of wealth leads one to strive to make their kids' lives better.

There will always be some shitty people in a generation. Just like there will always be good people.

The problem is trying to keep the shitty ones out of politics.

when your father lives through bastogne he probably tends to think with a little more freedom than the generation before, yes.

the sense of entitlement has always been there, its just parents used to bitch smack the kids back to reality, now they dont.

Yep.

It's well researched and documented. Parents have built up and pampered their kids. They've become more like equals in the relationship or in some cases, friends. The parents will do anything to not ruin the relationship, including giving into their every whim--even if that means rewarding bad or manipulative behavior.

Kids are not taught to compete. They're told from birth that they're special. That they're the smartest little genius in the world. There isn't a student of the month, it's just a gold star for everyone. You can become anything you want, even and astronaut or the president!!! It's a big problem in modern workplaces where younger people come in and are unable to accept criticism.

An enormous part of becoming great at what you do, is being self aware enough to be able to look at your own flaws and make corrective action. However, little Johnny doesn't think there's anything wrong because he or she has been told forever that they can do no wrong.

They've basically been damaged for life, because they have no emotional intelligence.

If any of you are familiar with the show AE Intervention, one thing you'll notice is a lot of the young people on that show were always the "great" music person, or the "super" smart one, or what have you. Then they get in the real world and get slammed because a false ego had been built. No one cares about you and you have to compete, fiercely. Many times they fall apart and turn to drugs, and the parents are always right there enabling it.

I think tough love is very important. Sometimes someone has to be the bad guy to you, but it's because they know the way it really is. I had a life changing experience in this regard from a person who was very important to me. I absolutely hate the people who did it. Our relationship is done. Over. Yet, deep down as I matured and became able to analysis things more rationally, they were right, and I improved significantly from it.

But of course. The problem is when the amount shitty people in a generation is growing at a faster rate. The snow ball just keeps getting bigger and bigger as they pass on their piss poor ways.

Not a single one of those people posting like that in that thread will survive in the real world on there own without marked changes.

If you want to do your kids a favor, whenever they accomplish something compliment them on how hard they worked for it and never on how smart/talented/whatever they are.
