I'd have to look up the specifics, but I know for a fact that sniper school isn't just limited to recon in Lejeune. They send regular 0311s there all the time.

dont you qualify for sniper based on your marksmanship and overall ability in boot depending on what you want to do?

No. Sniper School is limited to infantry MOS's only.
As for info on the recon school, google Basic Reconnaissance Course. I couldn't find any school specific info in the training manuals for 0321 (recon). Wikipedia says its about 65 days, but BRC is the entry level course. There is actually alot more training involved besides that.
