Workout Bros
Any of you guys try http://www.hundredpushups.com/ ?
It is a fun little program that you do over the course of 6 weeks. I have actually noticed significant gains myself. They also have a 20+ pullups that I am trying out.
This is not a thread about squats, dead lifts, turkish get ups, or bicep curls.

Re: Workout Bros
Nope. Pushups are a good exercise and I just thought that maybe some of my fellow DoDers could benefit from trying it out.

Re: Workout Bros
Of course DoD'ers can benefit from pushups considering 99% of them don't know what a barbell is. That's an unfair statement and you know it, bro.stile wrote:Nope. Pushups are a good exercise and I just thought that maybe some of my fellow DoDers could benefit from trying it out.
Re: Workout Bros
Well I personally hate lifting weights and some people don't want to take the time to learn how to lift with good form. this is a good program to get a bit stronger with a clear goal at the end.

Lifting heavy means you'll just get bulky. If you want to look like Arnold, lift heavy for 6 months. I don't want that. So I agree with pushups.stile wrote:lolwat.

Re: Workout Bros
you can still gain mass from body weight exercises, but they won't be as significant as lifting.

In my head, when I read about crossfit, it seems to make some sense. And then I see it, and it makes zero sense.

Re: Workout Bros
It doesn't. The greatest gains in strength/muscle occurs in traditional bodybuilding, not a 15 minute olympic lifting circuit routine. It's great for burning calories, but in terms of burning fat or gaining mass/strength, it doesn't compare to traditional lifting.mg_ wrote:In my head, when I read about crossfit, it seems to make some sense. Re: Workout Bros
I can understand the community aspect of CrossFit. It's a bunch of people devoted to improving their health. It's not as miraculous or impressive as they make it sound, obviously, just look at kipping and prepare to LuLz. But it's a tight-knit community. I understand that and can respect their goals.Sears wrote:Explaining this to my friends who have gone head over heals into the crossfit/paleo cult is almost as bad as the ceebz recoil thread.
Paleo, on the other hand, is so downright stupid it just hurts. How people can be so accepting of what they're told by those trying to sell more books is beyond me. Stop drinking the Kool-Aid and do a little research of your own.

No, bro! Carbs are fine! Fruit and veggies! But gluten, dairy, and legumes? That shit will kill you.Sears wrote:BUT CARBS KILL YOU! WHEN WE WERE MONKEYS WE DIDN'T EAT CARBS!
Check this fucking shit out:

Anything over 150g carbs = insidious weight gain. LULZ WHY AM I NOT OBESE THEN? I cut on 200g carbs per day. Fucking eating a 16 oz. sweet potato today. Come at me, starchy carbohydrates.

Re: Workout Bros
lol, if you are eating less than 100g of carbs a day, you'de have to eat so much food to get to your basal metabolic rate.
Also, is that supposed to be a jumping, spear wielding, paleo person?

You wouldn't have to eat THAT much more. I mean, look at ketogenic diets. Those bros are eating loads of fat. Olive oil, nut butters, fatty meats, etc. Shit is calorie-dense as a mofo.Sears wrote:lol, if you are eating less than 100g of carbs a day, you'de have to eat so much food to get to your basal metabolic rate.
Yeah bro, that's what all paleolithic people looked like! Also, is that supposed to be a jumping, spear wielding, paleo person?

Re: Workout Bros
I have to admit pushups or any bodyweight excise really helps make you lose weight. I lost 90-100 lbs in 1 year (40-50 lbs in 3-4 months) from changing my diet, when I eat, drinking more water and doing pushups, crunches, and some physical labor.
That's how I went from:

To:

Alex what do you think about?
http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/hrt-ani ... rview.html
and
http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/mike-oh ... ogram.html
for atleast a foundation of my workout plan. I was doing 15-20 reps before with 4 different days.
