Didn't you say your wrists hurt when you do pushups?

If that's the case, you get $100 for squatting 300.

I took a hockey stick to the wrist and consistently develop Ganglion Cysts in my right wrist. The pain from the cyst is enough to prevent me from doing push ups as well. The only treatment is surgery, but they say it doesn't prevent them from coming back. That's what made part of my shoulder rehab (torn labrum in the front and back) difficult because it was one of their recommended exercises to regain strength.

Rofl, I'm pretty sure i cant squat with 300 lbs. I'm benching 110 lbs and my weight is 143 lbs. So i wouldnt call myself "weak".
But as charlie said above me, i broke my arm when snowboarding so doing pushups hurts as fuck in my right wrist. But im fine lifting weights.

Edit; not saying benching is what "stretnght" should be measured in, but yeah.

Then there's an easy and obvious solution: don't do push ups! They're not remotely necessary.

Lol, circumstances ended up being similar! But yeah, certain exercises do not make it hurt. I can actually do push ups with my wrists straight just fine; only when the hand is perpendicular to the wrist is when its painful : P

I like the concept of pushups, since they are easy to do at home(i got 30 min bus ride to closest gym) and they are activating torso breast and triceps. Life story~

My right hand hurts however i have it, i jumped over a small fence when i had the casket thing, and i don't think that really helped the wrist bone to "get straight".

Luckily for me, i could problably operate the wrist if i took the time to go to the hospital(free healtcare for the win), allthough i doubt they'd allow me to do it if i just said that pushups hurts

Not impressive when you weigh as much as you do and have been lifting for years, bro ;] Well, not that it isn't impressive, but it's not a shocker. Not worth dishing out money for because I don't have any difficulty believing it!

Stamp being 15-16 weighing 130 pounds and squatting 300 would be beyond impressive. Relative strength, remember. Me weighing 200 pounds and squatting 300 < stamp weighing 130 and squatting 300.

But, I call e-stats on Stamp. Until I see a video, I'm going to say he can't do it. Gauntlet has been thrown down, little Stamper :D

Honestly stamp you can't believe those charts or calculators.

There is a difference between what you can do for 10 reps and what you can do for 1 as well as what they say on those calculators or charts.

Monday night for example:

I just got back from a 5-6 week break and Monday was my first day benching with my workout partner (so I was able to push myself and the weight).

I was pissed at myself for not being able to do 225 lbs on the bench for more than 7-8 reps, when before I could put it up for 15-20 if I really wanted to. But when I attempted 305 I was able to do it for 2 reps (struggled and groaned but it went up), this is still pathetic in my mind but those calculators can be a good estimate, and hell sometimes they are close but I really wouldn't judge your lifts off of that.

Your mind can play tricks on you.

Not to mention squats use a lot of your body.... a lot... that is why you see Alex make a big deal out of them. Because you use SOOOO much energy and SOOOO many muscles to do Squats, there really aren't too many lifts that can even compaire. So if you have 1 muscle which isn't trained to that degree within all of those muscles used for the lift then you can easily fail at an attempt even 10-20% of the predicted 1 rep max.

http://www.muscleandstrength.com/tools/ ... lator.html type in 225 for 8 reps and see.

You know what is funny Alex...

Whenever you said do 5x5's I was always like fuck that... I like what I am doing. But, in all honesty I have basically been doing just that. For my compound or powerlifting excersies I would do (give or take) 5 sets of about 3-8 reps. But I would also attach a few concentration exercises for about 12-20 reps depending on the exercise, muslce group, or my goal of at the time.

Free weights? Not on a smith machine? Not on some other machine? Completely unassisted free weights?

Awaiting video. You have the potential to make $20 here, Stamp.

If you are able to do 275 for 3 then you can do 300 for 1 maybe even 335-355 depending on the mindset you have going into it.

But when Alex says ATG he means Ass to the Ground... a lot of powerlifters or even big football players do top half squats or box squats which have some strength gaining value to them but aren't really considered by most to be real squats...

Like this is a real squat:

ATG for high bar squats. If you're doing low bar squats, going slightly below parallel but not quite ATG would also be acceptable.

I want to see a proper squat, though. If I see him lean onto his toes, not come down far enough, no hip drive, not driving through the heels, or turning the squat into a pseudo-good morning, then he will be disqualified!

Ya this better not be on a smith... I mean I use a smith machine most of the time because we don't have a rack but I wouldn't ever count that as a real weight... and if you are using a smith I hope you realize there is a counter balance so the bar weighs quite a bit less than 45 lbs and not to mention the bar can only go up and down.... SMITHs are bad for your back too! so don't use them for heavy weight.

If he's doing low bar squats it will actually be easier to accomplish than high bar. It's easier(for me at least) to go ATG with low bar since you already have more forward lean than high bar. You also get more hip drive involved in low bar than with high bar. Not everyone can do low bar squats though. It's all dependent on flexibility.

Box squats are great for explosiveness (like power cleans), but they aren't meant for maximizing gains, and you really aren't going to get a whole lot of benefit out of them if you aren't already quite strong.

The way you train for sports like track or football isn't like body building, and for good reason. Bodybuilding in the wrong way can make you a totally shitty athlete.

This guy's probably a lot stronger than 99% of bodybuilders at his same weight.

I would like to get into the whole concept of all natural muscle. The guys seemed ripped just from jumping up to get a tree branch and doing pullups or just random things using the environment. Viewing nature as a giant gym.
