im not angry he was banned, im upset because you somehow think having him neg banned for having a different opinion than your friend who doesnt do anything to refute his opinion with factual evidence of his own - is the correct thing to do. everything Reh has posted i believe(i would have to go back through it all) has a basis in fact. nothing moosh or img have countered with have anything outside of opinion except the naval terminology and information on the fleet linked in that video.

i find it rather pathetic someone of your age isnt capable of reading a few paragraphs before damning a person or at least comming up with a reasonable retort to his argument.

ThatsRight can be difficult to speak with, but honestly looking through his posts on this thread, he's conducted himself pretty reasonably until people started attacking him. I like moosh, he's a cool bro who likes to chill and I like to chill so naturally I like him for his chilling, but he didn't really refute anything that ThatsRight was saying. He wasn't refuting the main talking points with any sort of evidence, that is. Nor did img, obviously.

People disagree with him because his opinion goes against the status quo or what we've been taught in the public education system, but that doesn't mean he's worthy of being condemned or banned. That's not how intellectual discussions occur. He's brought forth his evidence, now refute it with counter-evidence. Or neg train him, in which case I'll just unban him again and your time will have been wasted!

He wasn't banned because he had different opinions. I negged him because he tried to make personal, plain and simple. I only got him to like -700 or 800, too. Not sure who hit the final thumbs down to ban him.

It's horrible logic.

The military has become much like religion was at one time. Speaking out against it in ANY WAY is immediately shot down for "lack of support and patriotism". Heresy. Any action or amount of funding cannot be questioned. Stadiums have fly overs of roaring crowds. Kids are taught history a certain way at birth so they know nothing different and literally go every day of their youth pledging to the flag.

Even when the reality of it's that if someone broke it down and took all emotion out of it and called these actions "country X" people would look at the behavior and be embarrassed and disgusted by it.

I don't hate America, but many of the governments actions are IMPOSSIBLE to defend. If you actually loved the country as much as some of you claim, one would demand an end to it, rather than shouting down the people who actually speak out against the atrocities.

It was more along the lines of were privileged to more information than the general public, and i'd say i half agree with most of our conduct towards Iran based on what i've personally seen. Yes the U.S. is a giant fucking bully and i hate hearing we have 3 carriers in the gulf, but until i'm not in the military i'll trust in my bosses.

I assume this is a rhetorical question? As in, you already have an opinion? I can tell you that, from my understanding of our history with Iran (which admittedly is not extensive), we should be apologizing for a lot. Of course if we back down and say, "sorry about that whole installing the Shah thing a couple decades back," then the American public will freak out because the propaganda against Iran has been in full force for far too long.

As far as who should step back first, I don't know. I should probably learn more about the history of all of this before answering. The idealist in me, of course, is all "well we should just talk and arrive at this forgiveness mutually!" But then I come back to Earth and realize that ain't happening. But then again, either country saying, "yeah we've been wrong this whole time, please accept our apology" also won't happen.

Ultimately you are formed to act, dress, and think a certain way. You even said above that you trust your leaders. The Navy slogan is "a global force for good".

It's not just America who does this. It's every country.

When the U.s rounds up Japanese...it's a nice little camp to help them.
When the U.s slaughters a race of Indians...they show pilgrims smiling at a table sharing corn.
"the unprovoked" attack by the Japanese...was provoked.
"operation Iraqi Freedom".
When the Americans rebelled against the British empire, it was justified. When the Iraqi's rebel against an American empire occupation, they're terrible rebels engaging in horrific gorilla warfare. When Nazi Germany took Poland and Austria...it's horrible....but America took California, Texas, and tons of islands. It's just the fun old wild west.
Countries getting nuclear weapons is unacceptable, but the United States created, actually used, and threatened to use them to destroy the world for half a century.
The U.s has routinely used assinations, rigged elections, and overthrew governments we didn't like even when they won legitimently, while at the same time touting democracy.
The Us has been involved in multiple wars the last decade....what if China had engaged in these conflicts instead or Russia? They would be branded as out of control.

And yes, I consider a large number of people to be brainwashed into thinking that we do nothing wrong and are just a constant welcomed leader around the world. Iran's navy in a menace....yet the U.s navy has more tonnage than the next 13 nations combined---many of those are allies with just about 0% chance of conflict. A naval/airwar in the straight of Hormez would be a blood bath. Iran is no more of a "threat" militarily than Iraq was, but of course, both are/were huge economic threats.
