I was in a tornado once, it was the last day of school and we were on a field trip to the lake. LITTLE DID WE KNOW... god hated 5th graders and threw a water spout right on top of us. I remember the people in the middle of the lake paddling like fuck to get out haha. It wasn't a real strong tornado, but when one forms right on top of you it can be scary http://www.esrl.noaa.gov/gsd/publicatio ... f697a.html

You live in Dallas?

I work in Farmers Branch, HR sent out an emergency email in the middle of the day, whole company crowded in the main hallway...no tornadoes though!

Good to see you pulled through rob. Would hate for a fellow cal banned bro to go down to a nader. Being from Oklahoma, we get our fair share of threats every year. I've only seen one in person, but it was a big one.

Friends dad took that after it missed my hometown by 4 miles. Tornado was F-5 and on the ground for over half an hour and traveled almost 60 miles. But honestly, I'll take my chances with tornadoes over earthquakes any day. Good thing I'm moving to Cali in 2012. LoL.

my home base is in dallas too (but studying in austin right now) and this almost happened during winter break. and by "almost happened" i mean i wished it did.

in any case, we had a tornado go through our housing development (im from allen) AT NIGHT, which is not very common. was a freaky experience during and after. didnt have power for about a week

Are you in the DFW area? I was just around a few tornadoes.

We were having my grandfather's memorial service and drinking whiskey with tornadoes around :D But we are in Dallas county, so they were all east and west of us.

And Knockout, I've been living in california for years and never experienced an earthquake, but my family here in Dallas was in a small one a few months back. Apparently the epicenter was around OK City.

I think the biggest one I remember was the 1994 6.6 in Northridge (near LA, about 20-25 miles from where I was living at the time). Lots of shaking and some older buildings got damaged, but nothing major. As for half the state of California being in ruins...I wouldn't hold your breath.

Haha, I wasn't suggesting it would be next month. :D In the scheme of things, though, I would agree earthquakes over tornadoes. Then again, living in Pennsylvania, I've never experienced either on any scale that wasn't a joke.

yeah, there's like one earthquake every 10 years that is slightly less of a joke than the rest. if anyone dies in an earthquake in california, i'll chalk it up to natural selection. it's not like buttvile, haiti where there are no building regulations

Invest in a house on the other side of the San Andreas and when the big one hits, you'll have beachfront property.

I worked for the Decennial census in 2009/2010 and during one of the projects I worked with a lady from Ojai (Hudson will have heard of this place) who called herself a shaman. She was talking about looking for houses and said she had found a good deal on a house but decided against buying it because it would be underwater within 2 years. She claimed the earth had told her that water was going to rise and cover the coast for several miles, and she didn't want to risk losing her house. These are real people.

I worked on the 2010 Census and walked up on a meth lab, walked IN a crack house/trailer, and ALMOST knocked on the door of a guy who murdered his girlfriend a couple nights before, but the cops pulled up to the house before I got to it.
