Hi, last night i tried playing dod with max resolution just for fun but my game crashed and now I cant load it up again.
I have tried putting the "-w 800 -h 600" in launch options and reinstalling the game and steam with no success.. When I try to start dod or counter strike 1.6 I get the small background picture that you see right when the game is about to load but then I get sent back to my desktop.
Have anyone else run into this problem before and if, how do I fix this?
Help a noob out.

download debugging tools for windows, open windbg and configure symbols by adding the msdn symbol server (SRV*your local symbol folder*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols). open a crash dump, select one of those files. in the command line type, !analyze -v. the faulting module listed should point you to video or sound drivers or something that you can try updating or rolling back.Cage wrote:Hi, last night i tried playing dod with max resolution just for fun but my game crashed and now I cant load it up again.

This actually happened to me last night. My game was trying to open in software mode and it just wasn't happening. All I did was, open up hlae(movie making program) and ran day of defeat through that to force it into opengl and then re-opened day of defeat and it was fixed or you can do what Ricky said but it I'm 99% sure you want to put -gl into it.

Yea my laptop that I got from school was just like that, I didn't know you could force it to a special video mode through launch options though. You learn something new everyday.
