TPG Classic League: Updated June 20th

TPG would like to announce the addition of the Day of Defeat: Classic League. This league will be played on Wednesday nights. As the name suggests, the league will be playing "Classic" maps such as Zafod, caen2, ramelle, etc. The rules for this league are mostly the same for the regular 6 vs 6 division, except we will be allowing the use of 3 BARs and 3 KARs. As a result, you MUST use the correct configs which will be released when the season starts. For now, we would like everyone to sign up and get your teams together, as we hope to start the league in a few weeks.

Edit: Since 4th of July is on a wednesday, The start date for the league will be July 11th.

I like the idea of a classic maps division but I'm curious as to what the rotation would be.

I miss maps like zafod and ramelle.. but caen2 was as awful then as it is now.

A 3.1 league would be nice, but that would require 3.1 servers. We already have 1.3 servers.

Same goes for 7v7, we weren't going to ask people to add 2 more slots to their servers.

Great idea. There is something to consider however, most of the older maps are much larger. This is part of the reason in the past(IGL, STA, early CAL era) the largest DoD leagues had an 8v8 or 7v7 player format. My question is if maps like Cherbourg, Caen(original), Zafod, Heatue, Ramelle, Anzio, Avalanche are going to be played, would this be a 6v6 league?

I don't know how effective this will be. We tried this in CAL in 2004 (?) which was almost the peak of this game's popularity and I think it died after one season, if that. Should just put the maps that are viable back in rotation.

I'd play in this for sure. Love that it's on Wednesdays. If both teams have enough (and the servers allow), can they do 7v7 or 8v8? Because that would be awesome.

This sounds like a lot of fun. Set fops max at 30 and put the servers in Asia for a nostalgic feel. Fluxx stop making yourself look stupid, you could be better then that.

I had a couple people ask me about divisions, and the response is that that just depends on the number of teams that sign up. Obviously we would like to get enough for at least 2 divisions.

This league is not ment to revive dod. Its not even ment to field a lot of teams. I would be happy with 4 teams that really want to play the older maps and not complain. If you don't like the maps don't play. I am hoping that the teams that do join, actually want to play and will have fun. If I played the same team every week on a different map, and didn't hear complaining, I would be happy.
