On Respecting Other Peoples Time
This message is for TPG organizers and players:
Unless something formal has been scheduled by the teams official listed leaders, through the official TPG website, I kindly request that you please show up for your God damn matches, on match night, on time.
I started playing DoD in 10th grade. Did I care in 10th grade whether I played tonight or tomorrow or in three days? No, because I came home and played for 4 hours every night regardless. I'm now entering my third year of graduate school. I am a busy person. I am, in fact, not unique in this regard. Many, and I dare say, most people now work full time, and have girlfriends, wives, and even kids.
Official match night is Sunday night, an agreed-upon weekend night, for a reason -- because we're all old, and have things to do during the week. You want to do something else Sundays? By all means, I support it. Do it, man. Just don't make a DoD team. Let it go and give it up. And definitely don't be so fucking crass as to expect, or even force, other people to provide charity to you in the form of their personal time on another night.

Re: On Respecting Other Peoples Time
if the information I'm receiving is correct, then TPG seems to be taking their own rules and bending them right now to cater to a man with a law degree that is just playing with their minds. It's quite fascinating to me but, let's do this; Narc your rule says if two teams can't come to an agreement on a day and time other than default then the match IS AUTO SCHEDULED FOR DEFAULT. REGARDLESS of whether we responded in match comm or not, that doesn't change the rule. We had 6 players on and in the server from 8est to 9:15est (one of which was a backup, which makes this whole thing even more hilarious), we had dialogue with multiple members of dinos about the scheduling and said numerous times we could not play Monday, dan then said they could do sunday if it was before default time. Jared talked to profiction and it was agreed that we would play at 8est on sunday. Dan (because dorito couldn't show up meaning they would have to use motive or eric or a backup player, just like we do) then apparently confronted profiction and yelled at him for scheduling the match, then told his entire team the match was monday and not sunday, essentially to stall time for himself to force our hand on a reschedule for a day that bryan could play. All of this is moot point. The rules state that if you don't agree on another day and time that you MUST play on the default day at the default time. There is only ONE exception to that rule : ***The only exception to this rule is for TPG Finals matches. You cannot take a FF win in the finals. If the default sunday does not work, and no time can become agreed upon during the week, then the following Sunday becomes the new default.***
so, good luck with trying to work your way through all these back doors and loopholes to cater to a single player, dan. Assuming that Narc abides by his own rules, this is going to backfire on you anyways. I'm quite disappointed in your handling of this situation and the worst part is that even your own team mates are fully aware of the games you're trying to play with all of this. So stop ignoring all of us on steam, stop trying to use that law degree to push your way into making us cater to you. It isn't happening and if you actually want this match played/any chance of you getting anything more than a FF loss, then you should consider answering your pms rather than dodging it to try and use the lack of match comm posts as your fail safe.
sorry to all the other dinos guys, after talking with each of you via steam and facebook last night, I know all of you had been told the match was 8est sunday originally and were all completely okay with it until dan lied to get you guys to not show up. none of this is a shot taken at any of you, but is simply me trying explain to the masses exactly what is going on with this entire situation so it's on record and not magically switched around by someone to make himself look like he did nothing wrong (dan).
if you'd like to play the match tonight, we need to use a ringer or two. if not, enjoy your forfeit loss.
/end wall of text.

Re: On Respecting Other Peoples Time
I informed your team leader of the situation 6 days before match day. He said he would see what you guys could do. I never received a final yes/no on rescheduling to Monday. If he had, you would have known that we could not play on Sunday.
edit: corey, I did nothing of the sort. i said that 8edt sunday was a possibility when i initially contacted jared... before bryan said that he couldn't be here sunday because of a family thing he had to attend. I've been online on steam friends all fucking week and Jared messaged me zero times until AFTER he messaged steve and tried to schedule for 8edt sunday. When I asked you about doing 30 minutes earlier Monday (you said you could do 11 EDT) on Thursday you said you would check back and never gave me a yes/no.
As for the rest of the shit you're making up about me trying to loophole/backdoor the system and yelling at steve (rofl like I care so much that I'm going to yell at someone I talk to everyday), nice? Yesterday Cass told me to make sure that I had entered a proposal on match comm since there was no agreement on the match scheduling, so I did that.

whoa there Charles Dickens. I wasn't prepared to proof read a novel upon entering this thread. I'll have to come back when I have more time.
Re: On Respecting Other Peoples Time
I understand the reasons to be upset, and I do understand the rules, and if we do happen to go by the rules that you so much want, then I feel this rule would over ride the rule you are choosing to stand behind. This rule would be as follows: Teams whose opponents have failed to attempt to contact them via the TPG Scheduler within one hour of the match, or earlier, will be eligible to give their opponent a forfeit loss for the week
Now from tpg's point of view, dino's did try and request a different time. The other team (you) did not respond till 8:25 est, that is well after the cut off rule, If you would have responded before 8est and declined the proposal, then yes dino's would have been subject to play or ff. However, I made it clear, that I don't really care who is at fault, I just want the match played being playoffs. So if we want to stick to the rules, then dino's should get the win, because you failed to respond to match comm in a timely manner. So I personally think I am giving both parties a chance to get this PLAYOFF match played. I hope this clears up TPG's point of view, and has no bias towards one team or the next.

Re: On Respecting Other Peoples Time
I'd agree with all this if I hadn't seen you guys being accomodated to play in another day or time other than default, what have been happened some times up to now, even on this season. It wasn't just about bryan but steve and scott harris as well. We didn't had 6 sunday. Though we have 10 persons in our roster, scat nasterly and hisey are no-go's leading us to have possibly scorch, ko, myself and motive only. That's 4. My point is: shit happens. We have played pretty much all season Sunday and tried to accomodate every team we played to have our matches played with both teams having their starters.
I'm not my team's leader though so I really don't know what have been talked or agreed between dan and jared.

Re: On Respecting Other Peoples Time
I never once said a word about thursday, every conversation we had was about either last night or tonight, I said it was possible we could do tonight but not until 11edt because dyelife works late. you said you can't do 11 because steve has hockey at 11:30 so I said we would talk to matt and see if 10:30 worked and we didn't get a response from matt. all the information I'm giving is just being relayed from conversations between you and I, your team mates and I, and the things that jared has told me. Steve approached him yesterday asking about 8est last night and jared agreed. NO ONE contacted us after that to tell us you wouldn't be showing up. I messaged you at 7:58 saying good luck and gave you the server info, you didn't respond a single time whilst going about watching hltvs, scrimming and 12manning for the rest of the night after we sat in our server from 8est to 9:15 est with no idea what was going on. I contacted both scotts, bryan and steve and got all the info I could out of them. A simple reply from you informing us that no one would be able to show up at 8 est last night would have prevented a large majority of this from even coming close to happening. We're getting our players on for tonight at 10:30 est, the time you guys proposed. We'll have 6, get your 6, let's get this shit over with before my head explodes.

Re: On Respecting Other Peoples Time
so once again, we are catering to your team's requested scheduling and getting our players on at an inconvenient time for 3 of them. Just drop the whole thing, make sure your players show up tonight like you told them to at some point yesterday, and we'll see you in the server at 10:30 est. at this point the bickering and finger pointing is exhausting, I haven't had to type that much since I wrote a paper about season 5 of LOST.
go confirm the time in match comm so all of this can just be water under the bridge now, please and thank you <3

Sorry about the pms, I was actually not watching matches or scrimming during the match time. I was playing shootmania with ron and moriar. When I realized that you had pm'd me and were in a dod server for that time, I didn't really know how to respond thinking you'd be pretty upset about the whole thing and I was over dealing with it.

Re: On Respecting Other Peoples Time
please stop making shit up, thanks. i never told anyone on my team a firm day/time for the match because i could never get a final answer out of your team. i certainly never told them anything other than that i'd try to reschedule for monday since we couldn't play on sunday (apparently it was thursday that bryan found out he wouldn't be able to play sunday). i can give you access to our facebook page if you'd like to see how much i'm lying to everyone.JaGGoNdd wrote:so once again, we are catering to your team's requested scheduling and getting our players on at an inconvenient time for 3 of them. In the words of Sean Brohm, I think the appropriate response here is "lewlies ron"
It's really easy to make your argument, but just as easy to say if you are so busy, don't play dod. It goes both ways. In any event, I leave you with this.

Is it, and does it? Don't think so.knockout wrote: It's really easy to make your argument, but just as easy to say if you are so busy, don't play dod. It goes both ways.
There's a big difference between being generically "busy", in a sense that isn't clear, and being a person with a lot on his plate who deliberately and methodically preallocates his time, in a way consistent with the standards set forth by the community.
This idea harkens to an ancient invention, known to some as a calendar.
