day of defeat FPS problems

Post by thewarwithin »

For anyone that may have a problem similar or heard of such stupidity, my laptop runs WoW on high settings with 40 fps. battlefield 3 with 40 fps and diablo 3 with good fps. however i cant run day of defeat with no more than 30.. and that is good for me.

comp specs

2.2 ghz i7
6gb ram
windows 7 (64bit)
nvidia GT 525M
500gig HD

ive tryied so many things to fix this problem ie. re installing both steam and dod. updating drivers, numerous counsel commands and other config things ive been told that should help, yet nothing has made my FPS smooth.

anyone got anything on such a matter to maybe help me out? plz and thank you

I had poor frames after installing my last cards when in d3d mode.
I ran dod on open gl mode and it fixed.
My previous cards didn't have this issue.

Might sound kind of silly but try some older drivers.

Try older drivers or to run the game in a different video mode.

I have almost the same laptop build and had the same issue. Like Crafty said, try a different video mode first. Otherwise go into your graphics card settings and reduce the rendering/antialiasing, texturing, etc. Lots of the newer graphic cards will also just have a slide bar that has quality on one end and performance on the other so you can find some middle ground there. This got me up to 60-70fps on most servers.

my problem is almost solid fps (89) then randomly somewhere int he middle of the match it will drop to 20-50 fps just constantly running up and down between those, then randomly at somepoint goes back to 89.

i also crash a lot getting a "half life error: NET_SendPacket: WSAEINVAL"

i dont understand how someone could have a fps issue in a game so old. specially with new computers. only bet is to try much older drivers. that or try compability modes and cycle thru them, in properties.

Well, it's because of the fact that the game is old and does not work well with new computer right?

I've never had FPS issues, and I've had about 5 different computers since I started back in 2003.

I never had the fps in d3d issue before either, then crossfire.

I had some fps issues with this 560 that I have at the moment, but playing with d3d solved it.
