haha sounds good to me! i'll have to make it a painkiller catch up, can't drink atm due to the surgery, and I had to stop drinking after the epilepsy/brain tumor (which is why I went missing)

Yeah he was just blatantly making shit up. I mean, I did take both the MCAT and the LSAT, but I did much better than 157. But, I had made no actual plans of going to either law school or med school at that point.

Yeah Nick, I've had a 4-5 year string of horrible luck, health wise. severed my rhomboid (your big back muscle) completely from my shoulder blade, so I spent about 16 months in chronic pain going through orthopedic surgeons who kept passing me on from dr to dr... of course i was still playing hockey & lifting heavy like an idiot, but finally stumbled on this doc who knew exactly what was wrong, and was the only guy who did the type of surgery needed other than another doc in lexington. So they reconstructed it by drilling 6 holes in my shoulder blade & reattaching the rhomboid. Been in severe chronic pain for 5 years until last month, when this doc up in stanford took muscles & tendons from my left pec, drilled some more holes in the shoulder blade, moved the muscle to my back and tied it down... in heavy recoup mode now, drugged out of my mind but it's not as fun as ya think..... although the cane I was rocking for a few years was awesome, I had it made out of the same carbon fiber as my hockey stick, and it had flames on it ala House style... i wanted to configure some sort of single shot gun or sword, but those are ridiculously expensive ;D j/k

funny story, during the entire 4-5 years I guess I had a brain tumor and was having seizures also. i knew something was fucked, but didn't find out until i had freakishly big one. worst part was literally drowning in my own blood, and I was just conscious enough to hear the ER docs working on me fucking tell each other "he's definitely not going to make it, we need to notify next of kin." So they tell my gf to get ready to say goodbye (family was jumping on the first flight out), before i even bit the bullet & traumatized the shit out of her... The next 10 days (8 really, since the 2 day coma) in the ICU though they were practically licking my asshole because I could've sued the shit out of em. Good news is they don't have to remove the tumor & do radiation until a year or two from now, and everything's cool otherwise. Managed to graduate somehow during all that mess, but I'm going back to school soon as I can.

So now that I've rambled on, how have you fucks been?... where you at currently nick? Any of you assholes planning on being in norcal soon? Once again, can't say how great it is to see all of you guys! Much love

Lives a funny thing, everything can go from amazingly well to hell. It's all mental, and about adaptability. Granted I was on serious meds due to the severity of the pain for many years & had a pain pump implanted (which only dropped it to 80% as opposed to 100%), it all comes down to mentality even though every second was a struggle. "Practicing" zen I found to be greatly beneficial, and recommend it to anyone/everyone. I'm a very private person when it comes to this journey & only family/close friends know, but it's cathartic especially with a sense of anonymity over the internet. But frankly here's many people here that I trust and care about their livelihood, and vice-versa.

I greatly appreciate your sentiments

I've been in NC since I left California 6 years ago dude. I reenlisted in 2008 and now I am getting out next year. Not sure where I plan on going after that. It's good to know you are doing ok. That's some serious shit that I don't think many people would be able to handle.

I was going through some health issues several years ago, which is one of the reasons Nick thought that I had passed away when I fake died. Not quite as severe as what you are going through, but I none the less got to the point where we were unsure if I was ever going to recover, and it was a slow journey out of that mess.

It definitely gave me a new perspective on life, and becoming a practitioner of zen (mindfulness) was a big part of that, a byproduct being that I often just don't seem to worry about or feel the need to chase after most things people do at my age (careers, wives, houses, babies, etc). For instance, I recently quit my nearly six-figure job that had me on the road 300 days a year to move back to Corvallis, OR to be a glorified teaching assistant and backpack almost every weekend, lulz. I also spend a good deal of time on 1911 in 2012...

Hope thing continue to improve brosef, keep us posted.
