Weird dod issue, some help?

Post by Bikeage »

So after 12 manning for the first time in years, I kept getting horrible lag spikes every few seconds. Ping would jump up to around 800, and obviously it made it impossible to play. My internet connection is excellent, and I've got a laptop that should have no issues running dod. Anyone have any clue as to what it might be? Vsync?

Vsync wouldn't make any sense. I could be your rates, are you playing with default?

Yeah, on wireless but I've used this connection before years ago (on another laptop) and never had those issues.

rates are 25000, 100, 100

Sounds like your router might have QoS turned on

Also, make sure your router is broadcasting on the correct channel. Typically channel 1, 6, or 11? One time mine was on 5 for whatever reason and was lagging non-stop.

I have a lag spike of about a 400-500 ping once an hour, at most. I have my desktop connection hardwired to my router though. What could be causing mine? I did just change ISPs too, but its a 15mb (speed test is over 20mb) cable connection through Time Warner Cable. Prior to that was a DSL through Cincinnati Bell/Zoomtown, and I had no issues.

Any settings I might need to change/set?
