dod_villa, imo.
after one match, i can say it's a fresh map that plays great. has potential. single caps promote aggressiveness and new playstyles in a 4 flag scenario.

Until today I had never played, but I think that dod_villa_b1 is a 100% playable map
Re: dod_villa, imo.
apps and long need to be seperated to be more independent routes, that little tunnel thing sucks on axis side, but other than that the map seems sweet, well done

Agreed, I warmed up to the map pretty quickly. Would have no problem playing it again.hildebrand wrote:after one match, i can say it's a fresh map that plays great. has potential. single caps promote aggressiveness and new playstyles in a 4 flag scenario.

While some parts were fast, I was forced to slow down a lot at the many choke points. Enjoyable overall.

It's a very good map.
Anything that freshens up the schedule, and puts a little shine on the game is good.
However, I maintain that this map has a great layout.

I enjoyed it. Single caps do promote more aggressive play styles and it's not bottle knecked to hell like chemmille. 9/10 would frag again

Re: dod_villa, imo.
Fun to play something new to be honest. The map have potential but needs some tweaking.
Too many choke points on the long and the appartments felt somehow boring. What i heard from my teammates, there were too many openings, entrences, windows etc at the plaza cap. May plug some of them. Looking forward for a new version.

Re: dod_villa, imo.
Yeah there are a lot of places that overlook plaza. Just get rid of that room with the double windows then it would be great. The single caps promote aggressiveness and are good for fastcaps. Havent heavied the map so I don't know about that side. Should put in regular rotation next season.Manner wrote:Fun to play something new to be honest. The map have potential but needs some tweaking.

Overall I thought the map is fun. I think there are some parts that aren't perfect, but as all maps in the rotation, each have areas that could improve. Our community is getting old though, and old age causes us to be adverse to any change whatsoever.

What I've seen of it I had a lot of fun with. Everytime I left the courtyard side of the map I got lost and killed immediately though. Seemed like a solid map otherwise, could have been a lot more frustrating trying a new map against a good team.

Re: dod_villa, imo.
Me and Pdx tested the map yesterday and we figured it out pretty quickly. We ended up not playing our match but as everyone pointed out, the match is pretty much playable. The sad thing is that unless the server admins throw the map up on 12mans in a regular basis, it will eventually have the same feel of the other custom maps that half of the community ignorantly hate.

Re: dod_villa, imo.
While I never played it, downloaded it the day before the match and no one on my team spent anymore then 2 minutes on the map prior to the match it DEFINITELY needs some work... It does have potential to be a decent map, but there are a couple of issues that I have seen with it so far, but these are only my opinions. The courtyard side apartments need to have less doors, and potentially not link to the first flag of the allies, maybe stop under the allies loft entrance. The pyramid needs to go away... useless. The double doors side needs far less little hallways that just lead to absolutely nowhere. They are useless and actually promote slower play and camping. As someone said remove the double windows that link to mid as there is already the crack there for the axis to have access to. There are probably some other things that need to be fixed/changed but i don't remember the entire map..
The good things though, I do like the fast paced nature of the map, the single caps do promote a quicker play style that most maps don't have, i liken it to how chemille is. The basic layout is nice, the courtyard gives some decent cover, almost too much at times, but the single cap nature gives it a good balance.

Me: There's a dude dancin around the dildo statue.
Bullgooselooney: I don't think that's the official name for that...

LOOOOOOL. Little does he know that it was named by you in the first ever 12man on that map. I consider it official.

I'm all for something new. We are season 29 of pretty the exact maps since season 1. I think it never hurts to learn/play a new map now and then.
