MLB Playoffs
MLB Playoff time! Now that they screwed up the whole post season with 2 wildcard teams lets get some predictions in.
If I have the time, I'll try to score it like Sean did with the NHL post season, no promises.
I'll update on Friday after the wildcard games, and after the DS games etc
Scoring:
2 Points for predicting the correct winner and amount of games
1 Point for predicting the winner
0 Points for incorrect predictions
Wildcard will be 1 point I guess.
AL Wildcard - 1 game playoff
Baltimore at Texas
NL Wildcard - 1 game playoff
St. Louis at Atlanta
ALDS Best of 5
Detriot - Oakland
ALDS Best of 5
New York - TBA
NLDS Best of 5
San Fransisco - Cincinnati
NLDS best of 5
Washington - TBA

Re: MLB Playoffs
AL Wildcard
Texas > Baltimore - This is gonna be interesting. Part of me wants to say Baltimore will win after the Rangers had the AL west stolen from them in Oakland yesterday. But if Darvish stays on the mound for 6 solid innings and Josh doesn't smoke any crack tonight, the Rangers can win.
NL Wildcard
St. Louis < Atlanta - I don't really follow poverty leagues, but the braves have been one of the best teams through the season, St Louis has underperformed, badly.
ALDS
Detroit > Oakland in 5- Probably gonna be the best series this season. I discredited the A's but their bats have lit up as of late and are giving their starters the run support they need. I think Detroit will finally take it in game 5. Oakland's bats are hot, but won't be able to keep up with Cabrera and Fielder in the long run.
NLDS
San Fransisco < Cincinnati in 4 - NL West is such a poverty league this season. Giants may actually win 2 if they get a good performance from both Cain and Zito. Lincecum and the rest will get ripped up by the Reds.

Re: MLB Playoffs
I lold hard. That faggot is incredibly overrated. Once his deal with the Giants is over, he'll have a few seasons of making the big bucks and then fade in to obscurity. Sorry, but just because you can hit lefties and call pitches doesn't make you a good catcher. Once you get above a .3 caught stealing ratio we can talk. Giants fans are delusional after 2010.warchyldd wrote:

PS what kind of a catcher does this... and doesn't even get the out?

If you're gonna be a dumb catcher, at least be a boss like Molina and hold onto the ball

Re: MLB Playoffs
Dumbest play in sports. The baserunner is just trying to take the catcher's head off. In any other game that shit would be an automatic ejection, but in baseball it's just... I don't even know? Bad game

Re: MLB Playoffs
The catcher shouldn't be blocking the base runners path. He could be behind the plate with the ball. And it's not even a head to head contact. ALL SHOULDER it's clean.scorch- wrote:Dumbest play in sports. The baserunner is just trying to take the catcher's head off. Boom, drops the mic.
Re: MLB Playoffs

Catchers aren't supposed to block the plate. You catch the ball, and swing for the tag.
Well I'm 0-2 so far.

This shit pisses me off, the umps have been worse than replacement NFL refs the past few days.
I put a last minute $100 bet on Baltimore last night because I have no faith in the Rangers. Worked out well.
Re: MLB Playoffs
i was hoping kris medlen could get the job done last night.. but atlanta played some terrible d.
now the nats have to face the best top to bottom offensive line up. -______-
oh and the rangers (hamilton) choked as expected.

Re: MLB Playoffs
Sorry bout that; we here are quite obnoxious. The Reds have always had troubles with the west coast for a number of years. I need to move and find new local teams to root for. This shit is making me grey.
Re: MLB Playoffs
a's had a good run.. i was rooting for them
not sure how cinci managed to lose the last 3.. they looked great in game 1 & 2
i'd love to see baltimore knock out the yanks in the bronx
and the washington/st louis series is left up to which offense produces.. glad it's a night game though.. shadows + wainright's 12-6 curve is a joke.

At this point in the season, I root for any team playing against the Yanks. Especially now that my Reds are out...rolyat wrote:a's had a good run.. i was rooting for them

Re: MLB Playoffs
They shouldn't be playing day games period. The light posts in the Cincinnati stadium created the worst possible shadows.
I couldn't even imagine trying to track a fastball through shade/light/shade/light and back to shade over 60 feet.
Pretty stoked to see game 5 of the O's and Yanks. Unfortunately I have a gut feeling that the Yankees will win it. So far I'm pretty much failing in my predictions.

I haven't seen a single ump that had a consistent strike zone this whole month.

Re: MLB Playoffs
Tonights zone seem really small early but widen up as the game went on.
