TPG Season 25 - Week 8

Schmiggs is here on short notice, so you're stuck with his thoughts again this week. I’m hoping to have our volunteer predict with me next week. As always, PM me if interested for future weeks.


Upper

Match of the Week: slow loris vs. team risk
There seems to be a few potential good matches this week, but I think this should be the most even/interesting. Slow loris has only been together for 3 matches and have already had 3 good showings, and it seems that their team has gelled well despite a brief time playing together. I have no clue what happened in the match against Winnfield, as that score doesn’t seem like a true reflection of risK’s team. Assuming they aren’t having any issues, I like risk here, but not by much.
My pick: risK by 30

Schmiggs: This is a great match-up, and although I haven't seen loris play as a team together, they do have some great individual players. Team risK has proven they play together well as a team although they are coming off a really lopsided loss against winnfield. I predict that trackpants will be worn and risK by less than a cap.

Donkey PunchN Krew vs. Winnfield & Sons
dpK is coming off a strong win against LcM, oh wait that was a forfeit. Regardless, they are a solid team and have steadily grown since a rough loss against W&S to start the season. It seems that these two teams are engaging in an arms race to acquire the most online players, as dpK has bolstered a growing online roster with Jigsaw! I like where your heads’ are at guys, if you can’t beat ‘em, cheat ‘em…wait that doesn’t work when the other team does so back. Speaking of, W&S beat risk last week in a lopsided match, and they have added OJ Simpson to the mix. I like W&S here.
My pick: W&S by 70

Schmiggs: Seeing as my prediction for the dpk LcM match was spot on and AirNick whiffed hardcore on it I will say that I am by far the better predictor as of now. That being said, dpk will have a really tough time against winnfield this week. If Miller plays this week then winnfield is going to win by 1000. If Miller doesn't play, the spirit that Miller brings to winnfield will bolster their overall win total by only 150. Discuss...

GameSpy Rangers vs. team 99
GSR is continuing to have a rough season, as 75% of their wins are a result of one team trying to be lame to beat them and another being dead. The margins are what make it surprising, as they seemed to be built around a combination of solid individual play and strong teamwork. 99 seems to be rolling again as roster and internet issues seem to have been corrected. This team is definitely better than their record suggests, and I expect them to keep the momentum going.
My pick: 99 by 100

Schmiggs: GSR doesn't get a lot of respect. They are a pretty good team, but team99 has stealth and he is obviously going to destroy everything in and around his scope. And ibuprofen will somehow figure out a random spot to gay people on the new map. That is unless MAJL does some random spraying and praying and taking down of the entire team99 as he's been known to do. If that doesn't happen, Mino is pretty good and poo has great aim.

THUNDER vs. dirty ghetto f**ks
Not much to say about THUNDER at this point. They are the best team in Upper right now and that doesn’t seem to be likely to change any time soon. Dgf seem to be going in the wrong direction after a good start to the season, and THUNDER isn’t exactly the team you want to face when trying to get back on track, which I don’t expect to happen for dgf this week.
My pick: THUNDER by 100+

Schmiggs: dgf still has one of my most favorite people in the world with Matthew Rogers (sp00k sp00k), and I think he's brought a lot to a solid dgf team. That being said, THUNDER is pretty fucking incredible. dgf usually can keep matches relatively close with their slower playing style, I just don't think that it will work if THUNDER puts any time into this map.

Wraith Rangers vs. Lawnchair Mafia
What can I say about these teams that hasn’t already been said about Afghanistan, they look bombed out and depleted, but for different reasons. WR have stuck it out, with its lone victory coming off of a tough BYE squad. LcM have 3 straight FF losses, so it doesn’t seem likely this one will be played. Looks like WR will have a FF win to go with the bye win.
My pick: WR by FF

Schmiggs: HOLY SHIT WR MIGHT WIN A MATCH!!! This could be a double FF just because WR has to recruit ringers from winnfield vent to play their matches. Not even going to bother with this one.

Lower

Match of the Week: Believe the Hype vs. 1080p
This match wins the title of MOTW in Lower by default, as there are no other potentially good matchups (*insert joke about there never being good lower matches here*). BtH has a solid roster led by Odin and GRIMM, and have done a good job beating down pub clans. 1080p has added half of FLATout’s starting roster, which is a benefit. I think 1080p has the better all around team, and the chemistry seems to be coming along as well as this team seems to get some scrims in.
My pick: 1080p by 80

Schmiggs: nugs and bromley have really bolstered the 1080p roster. Still love the 1080p name btw. Odin for some reason has changed his name to some weird fucking symbols. Aliasing is tarded. GRIMM is really good even if he never 12 mans with us. I'm picking 1080p just because of the flatout guys.

Kevlar Soul vs. Hell’s Kitchen
KS may be the 2nd best pub clan now, but that still should get them a victory here.
My pick: KS by 100+

Schmiggs: I really can't wait for the dcn pub clan league. It'll be great for the pub clans to feel better about themselves and improve a little bit. Don't know who's good here but I'll go with KS.

Pub clan against newer team that just beat fM, easy win for HH.
My pick: HH by 250+

Schmiggs: HH beat up on a shorthanded and ill-prepared fM last week, but they'll be the much better team this week. Hurry up dcn and get that pub clan league going!

TeamLess vs. VMF-214 Blacksheep
Sorry about the lack of insight…wait I don’t even need to apologize, because you don’t care about these matches either! TeamLess rolls VMF.
My pick: TeamLess by 250+

Schmiggs: If cheating fuck Kodiak plays and uses his aimbot this week VMF will take down a much more talented TeamLess team. If not, lerf, c-ton and kruddy will rape their souls.

Pub clan battle, should be relatively competitive, but I think BAW has the edge.
