Match# on Team Page / TPG Server Add-on

Post by Sp3c-BuLLeT »

FROM A TPG NEWS POST:
You may notice a match # on your team page for your matches that have not been played yet. This number will be used with the new TPG server add-on which is currently in its final testing phase. The first purpose of this add-on will simply be to check the Steam IDs of everyone in the server against a given match number and will report back any players that are unrostered or suspended to the user's console window. This will make checking for ringers and suspended players much easier. Since we are passing in the match number and a list of Steam IDs to a TPG web service we will be able to log these Steam IDs to the database and report which players participated in a particular match. I will be asking select teams to test this server add-on in scrims and matches in the near future. If they have been authorized to test this server add-on then it will be legal for their match. In general server add-ons are not legal for match play. No worries this add-on does not require AMX Mod.

Future Server Add-on Plans Including Anti-cheat:
In the future we may use the issuing of this command to signify to the server and/or TPG web serivce to begin tracking stats for the match allowing us to correspond stats to a particular player in a particular match. TPG is also looking into an anti-cheat measure that would enforce client variable (cvar) values and also check the consistency of certain files (e.g. models, sprites, sounds). Utilizing the TPG web service we could feed the list of files to check on a per map basis to the server add-on. This would save unnecessary testing on files that only exist with certain maps. I also envision this server add-on in the future contacting the TPG web service to pull the config file for the map automatically. This way teams would not have to worry about downloading the last config, but simply issue a command in console that would retrieve the config from the TPG web service and then execute it. Configs would still be provided on the TPG website as backup in case the TPG web site goes down.

Big thanks to |RIP| Fysiks and his friend for all of their help in the creation of this add-on.

It is difficult enough that it probably won't happen. Consider it job security for the anti-cheat team lol.

Some people have seen the AC addon in action.
-It blocks illegal models of all kinds, weapons, nades, and map (this includes HLTV models, thanks milo!). It only scans your files when you join the server, you are either allowed to enter, or it blocks you from joining until you get rid of the offending models.
-if your cvars are not within legal limits, it calls you out and changes them for you. If you try to change them, it will repeat this process every so often. It is not constantly scanning, as to not hurt game play.
-If your rates are incorrect and it will fix them for you. This includes ex_interp. This has been by far the most found violation so far. Your interp needs to be between .01 - .03. This needs to be manually put in your config. If you changed it once via console, it does not save it. You have to go into your config and add the line ex_interp .01.

The main thing that I have noticed is that the log files for this will add up. So the addon does not affect performance, server operators will need to be vigilant in deleting both server logs and addon logs, and it should not affect game play.

So what we are waiting for? Make it mandatory for next season!!

I think the admins need to get together and review all the cvars and their possible values. I think what would be helpful in doing this is a complete list of every cvar and all of their default values. Does anyone know where this can be obtained?

Does anyone have a Windows server? The TPG Roster Check Server Add-on seems to be working fine on Linux servers, but we have not been able to test it on a Windows server yet?

If anyone would like to try here is the download link along with some poorly written instructions:
http://www.tpgleague.org/dod6/approvedfiles/

If no one is able to test it on a Windows server I will install a dedicated server on my machine and try it out. Thanks.

Also, if anyone would like to test it out this week for your match feel free to do so and report any issues back. This is completely optional. No one is required to do this.

Tried unzipping the file, said it was damaged?
