Alright I got a new laptop and for some reason I'm getting really bad framerate dips in dod.
My specs are fine, obviously, since dod is crazy old.
My vid card is a Geforce 680M, running driver v306.02.
If you need any other info let me know. I've turned all settings down, antialiasing off, no particlefx, no vsync. Can't figure it out.
Any help is appreciated!

I suspect it has something to do with OpenGL. Not really finding much on google.

Re: dod troubleshooting, fps problems
When I upgraded my 7950's, My game was fps-unplayable in d3d, and playing in gl was the solution.

Well I'm playing in OpenGL currently.
e: problem persists in D3D.

Re: dod troubleshooting, fps problems
Maybe force the direct x thing to 9.0 in your dod properties launch commands

Re: dod troubleshooting, fps problems
Check to make sure power saver mode isn't on.
Check to see if your video card is up-clocking when a 3D application is running (use msi afterburner with on-screen display activated)
Try and see if there is a difference while plugged in and running on batteries.
That mobile GPU is good so fps shouldn't be a problem. How do other games run?

This was the problem on my girlfriends laptop, when ever her son played a game it would drop framerate and get choppy. Power saver mode was enabled, simply shutting that off fixed everything.defrag wrote:Check to make sure power saver mode isn't on.
