UFC ON FOX 5!!!
In my opinion, the best main card of the year!
Nate Diaz vs Ben Henderson for the lightweight title
SHOGUN vs Alexander Gustafsson
BJ Penn vs Rory Macdonald
mike swick vs matt brown
7 prelim fights. 5 hours on FOX and FX.
Ben Henderson is part of the reason I even watch MMA anymore. He is one of my favorite fighters since his days in the WEC which resurrected by interest in MMA. He is one of the most underrated champions/fighters, and I think a win tonight will finally get him some respect. Everyone seems to love shogun, he's always been a warrior, but I think Gustafsson might take this one. Dude has been on a tear through the division, and a win should get him a shot at JBJ. I really want BJ to win, I don't want to see him retire. One of my all time favs and one of the best. Also i think rory dopes with all that backne.

My friends thought he was dead. haha. I'm like "No, he was moving his lips and eyes, he's not dead" He did appear dead for a few seconds though.

Not a fan of Rory McDonald. Kid was an asshole while fighting one of the top fighters in MMA history; one of a few that held belts in two different weight divisions. He's the Micheal Bisping of Canada imo.

Re: UFC ON FOX 5!!!
He definitly talks WAY too much shit for me aswell, but unlike Bisping I think he will win a belt. He is really talented but at the same time he couldnt put BJ away when BJ took that fight way out of his weight class. He was oversized in comparison to BJ and controlled the fight the entire way. Personally the UFC is losing its appeal to me. Guys today are more scared of losing than going balls to the walls and getting KO or submission wins. I blame GSP for this for making the fights overly technically. Great fighters need to finish fights otherwise the UFC will be no different than boxing.CharlieGiteau wrote:Not a fan of Rory McDonald. As for Hendo, I love watching him fight but I will never forget what happened to him in that last WEC event. Wish it was the other way around but I do like both fighters anyway.

Re: UFC ON FOX 5!!!
I watched that WEC fight. It was the most amazing thing I've seen actually done during a fight. Though he did pop right back up from the kick, too bad he still lost.
I was surprised that Rory didn't push harder for a finish. Ray Charles could've seen he was in trouble, but Rory still played it too safe. I was obviously rooting for Penn, but as the first round was nearing the end, I knew he wasn't going to win unless he got some fluke KO/sub.
I think there are still plenty of finishers in the UFC, and I think most of them want to finish. Henderson was wailing on Diaz, but Diaz has always been able to take quite a few licks and keep on trucking. It was nearly a chess match when it came to the ground game. Shogun was outmatched, but he was taking some big shots just to get in range of that Swede, and I applaud him for that. Bones will kill the Swede though.
