The i7 2700k seems like the best deal since i can get it for $110 less (from microcenter in philly) than I could find it online, but is it worth the extra $70 since I can get an i5 for $149.99?

I had wait until Intel Haswell realease in early june, if you don't need a new cpu right now.

I'm waiting on Intel Haswell, so I can upgrade from my AMD Phenom 2 X4 955 @ 3.9GHz, XFX 6850 and 4gb memory
(If I don't spend the money on 2-3 week long vacation abroad )

That "K" at the end of the CPU number is pretty significant. It basically means the CPU is unlocked and you're going to have a much easier time overclocking. With that said, I wouldn't go for the 3470 because it's just not going to be as flexible down the road when CPU requirements start increasing.

So leaving you with the 2700K and the 3770K the decision is pretty easy. Get the 3770K since your motherboard has a Z77 chipset.

not sure if you know or not but as far as the cpu numbers, any of the ones that start with a 3 are the third generation. i myself have an 15 3750k and i don't have a problem with it. i used the money i saved to upgrade other parts in the pc. it all comes down to what you would like to do with it. you might even want to check out to see if it's worth forgoing that gpu and just use the onboard until you get a better deal on a newer gpu.
