TPG Memorial Cup

Post by defiance »

Since we are off again for the 2nd time in 3 weeks, we are going to attempt to do a cup/draft on the Sunday before Memorial day, for those of you who don't have any plans.

It will be an 8 team, one night tournament, so be prepared to play as few as 1 match and as many as 3 matches. There is no rescheduling, First round is at 9 pm est, Semis at 10, and Finals at 11. Each team will consist of 8 members, so there are two backups.

The first 64 players that sign up will be eligible for a team. If we reach 64 players, any extra will be put on a ringers roster, and those will be the official ringers for the tournament. You cannot use a ringer if a team member is available, this is for fun, winning isn't everything. The minimum number needed is 48 players, if we don't reach it, the tournament will scrapped.

To sign up simply go to http://www.tpgleague.org/NightCup/join/2026/ and join the "Cup Entry" team. The password is "join" Please use your real handle when joining. For people who do not sign up on time, you may join the ringers roster: http://www.tpgleague.org/NightCup/join/2035/ the password is "ringers"

If we can get 8 players who want to be captains, that would be great. Captains should be the same skill level, so as long as there are 8 people in the same skill range who want to be captains, we will do it like a draft. If not, Cass and I and whoever wants to help will just try and make even teams. To be a captain PM me on 1911, again skill level doesn't matter. We will pick teams late this Sunday night, around 1030-11 EST when all the matches have been completed.

Quarters - lennon_b2
semis - harrington
finals - anzio

This will be mainly for NA players only, unless you can communicate effectively like Cass.

DO NOT SIGN UP IF YOU CAN'T/MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO PLAY, YOU RUIN IT FOR EVERYONE ELSE.

All TPG rules apply. Demos and SS are necessary. Any disputes will not be handled until after the tournament is over.

why did i get moved to ringers? i joined in when there were less than 48 players (on thursday at 8pmEST) and i was in the team "Cup Entry"... i use to play 12mans in xm and the 2 or 3 more vents that sometimes hosts 12mans.
i can understand english and i can talk it too (im argentinian), i always make calls when i have to, having me on the team is not the same as having one less.

I think in the interest of fairness, the captains should all be invite-level players, otherwise the teams are inherently unfair. As is, it looks like mistadobalina is a lot better than the other players listed as captains.

If you signed up and something comes up, be a good sport and drop off so we can move over someone from the ringers pool. Already happened to crono and he was nice enough to give up his spot.

So is this gonna work like the last Cup? You have 6 rostered players but one ringer is better than the one of the 6 on your team, so we sit a rostered player for a ringer.

I hope not skinny, but thats on the team to be honest about it and the opposing team to say something about it. If it happens again, we can shove these things back in the closet.

Need 2 more captains

or like the last time (i think?) we did a draft when the first XX amount of people to sign up were to be drafted, and everyon ese was ringers. Yet a handful of us who signed up quick somehow got moved to the ringers team right before the drafting happened and peoples friends got moved to the draft teams. hurt my feelings broz. i cried forever. my sad was large.

Why neg the truth and not post Pat? Basically makes the whole thing somewhat pointless when people do that. I understand the wanting to win part. Why do you think people cheat?

I have never seen or heard of people doing that in any of the past drafts. You just seem to whine about every draft, cup, and tournament tpg runs. And if you cant handle being negged for saying something you might be too fragile for the internet.

Well it happened to me and a few others. And if I point out the issues as to why I don't play in the Drafts, Cups, Tournaments and it makes them better in the future. Then why not put in my two cents. Why have the draft if people aren't going to do it properly and allow people on the team to play before they get ringers. I didn't think I was in the wrong to say that Pat. I just wanted an explanation as to why and I got it after I called you out. Seems like you have some personal issue with me and I have no idea where it came from. Own me on the internet, thats fine. 1911 is a forum and we are allowed to post our opinions and discuss. I see why you disliked my post and applaud your neg. My post is from personal experience and to what I've heard from other lower level players. I'd loved to jaz but people like to close the door on that sometimes.

Not that it affected me personally, but it would have been hard to miss the posts about people using ringers over their selected team in the last couple cups. Pretty weak stuff, and something that definitely happened.

I know of numerous people that signed up for previous drafts well ahead of the cut off and afterwards got moved to ringers so friends of certain people who signed up late could play instead. To deny that it happened is pretty sad..Just saying..

I am all for fairness when it comes to a tournament like this... But I was just looking at the sign ups and saw fluxx on there. That being said, it means there is a one in eight chance that I may have to endure forty minutes of painstaking ventrilo idiocy in his presence... Just this one time, I am asking the tpg admins to spare us all (and myself in particular) of this blight. Thank you. Also if Kirk is a captain, make him pick a stupidly cliche generic team name like "102nd Airborne".

I would PM, but this is easier.

I wouldn't be able to play past 11pm or even 10pm. Which is why I would rather be on the ringers team, I didn't think it through when I signed up.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

First action as captain of 102nd Airborne: pick Andrew Olsen/Olsun/Olsan/Olson/Olsin in the first round.

Probably too late for this but last time when you signed up you wrote down what class you were so it would be easiar for captains to pick and know who does what..any chance of that happening this late? just curious not a big deal

dont worry tenks. i have a notepad file of all the players, what division they are in, and a guesstimate of what gun they use. will send to any captains that dont have it.

draft is after the gskill vs angryface match which is at 10est because 3 of the captains are involved.

kirk be on if you still want to captain, you can have my spot, and i will just do it if someone no shows.
