Let me be the first to say how amazingly fun that tournament was. IDK how it was for the rest of the teams but, all my guys were so fuckin into the whole thing, played their asses off and holy shit that finals match was the most intense dod match ive ever played online or lan, unbelievable game by both teams and i was so happy with how well all our team reacted to adversity, jordan nico dan nathan sence all played amazing and mista's team was a fuckin force, we were lucky to come out with that win (especially if you watch me almost cost us the match from church with about a minute left LOL i hope no one saw) so i hope we can do this again and i hope even the teams that played one or two matches had at least almost as much fun. couldn't have asked for a more fun way to get championship #30 ^_- even though i almost stroked out at one point it was so stressful lmao

eric and matt rogers are going to see me posting anything at all right now and be like SHUT THE FUCK UP COREY ahahaha <3

Here are my thoughts about the draft... At least there will be one ban from the entire tournament.

That is Alex Kirk ever being a captain again. I sent in my ticket defiance.

I agree Corey. Although our team got smashed in the match, our team hung out afterwards and played mogers team that also lost their match. Got to chill with some new dudes and enjoy playing competitive dod.

The one thing I do want to improve is the captain process. I could care less who the captains are but there should be some ranking system in how the captains can pick.

ie. taylor, corey, hildebrand are captains. people then rank said captain on skill/strategy/exp etc.

1. taylor
2. corey
3. hildebrand

taylor would get last pick, and I would get first pick. Shouldn't be random.

Agreed. Although it sucks that my internet decided to take a massive shit 5 seconds into the match so my team played 5v6 the first half, it was fun hanging out afterward and playing Mogers team.

I think this would be cool to do again after the season is over.

I agree with the idea of adding weight to players; captains or players within the pool.

I think it was awesome for defiance to do this. He did the best he could with what he had, unfortunately it's inherently and uncontrollably going to be flawed; nothing he can do about that as there will always be multiple systemic flaws to any sort of tournament like this. Big thanks, man, this comes straight out of your free time and you get nothing in return except for helping the community out, and so you deserve gratitude from everyone just for taking the time to do something that was enjoyable.

I think the biggest issue is what happens when starters don't show up. It might make sense to just have 6 people per team and if someone doesn't show up, rather than having 1-2 designated backups, just pick from the pool of ringers and that ringer would then be on your team for the remainder of the tourney. As defiance pointed out, however, this would just mean no O-IM division players would get to participate, and that's not exactly fair.

He shared an idea with me which might be interesting to see happen. I won't divulge because I don't know if he wants the public to know about it. Get rustled.

I had a fucking blast. I haven't had that much fun playing dod in a really long time. Corey, don't feel bad about almost losing the match, at least you didn't lose the match like dogfire. We were about to make a big push to your 1 again, he's in barrels crouched in a corner. You guys move and start capping plaza. He continue sitting in corner in barrels while I yell at him to break. Oh well. It was one hell of a match and you guys pulled it out. GG!

hilde's mad I picked him :(

my sad is large.

but on a serious note, I'd be the first to admit me having last pick was a disadvantage for my eventual team, because of my skill compared to the rest of the capts. So on that regard ranking captains does make sense...but at the same time random is the most unbiased and fair.

But either way I had fun, just was disappointing to play 5v6 as I thought my squad had a good shot of moving on. It was my fault for not having a better strategy for having a backup/ringer ready. No one was online and it was hard to search mid match. Thanks Hilde, Tom :(, Carp, twist, mike( i guess :P ) and Lerf for showing up and making the best of it, had fun.

And alex said it better than I could, thanks again for your time defiance.

lol, look at the two people we are comparing here.

Anyway, yeah I'll agree it probably wasn't my brightest moment. I thought maybe if I could ninja maybe something productive would happen but unfortunately it didn't. Regardless, I thought the tournament was a great time. I really wasn't even expecting to play so the fact that I did obviously made it a little better for myself. Should definitely have more tournaments in the future but I wouldn't wear the idea out. GG all.

haha come on now josh, you got to play on the first draft team i captained and experience how much fun it was! you know i go hard in these things. i was also super baked for the first time in like 6 months, as eric had to find out the hard way for a few minutes at 3 am lmao

yeah i mean the captain situation is always shotty, there's not really any full proof way of doing it without one player or another being disappointed with the outcome of it but defiance did an excellent job organizing it, the players who showed up were all having a blast. i was lucky enough to be i think the only team with my full starting lineup for the whole tourney (<3guys) but even with that said, we had our 7th man in vent with us for the whole tourney ready to go so overall, this one seemed to be more successful in general than the others. people gaying their backups in favor of invite ringers is fucking stupid and petty and i really don't see the point lol but yeah, i look forward to the next one and obviously defiance knows I'm always willing to captain for these things. if we could do another regions cup that could be fun as well but I'm not sure how it would compare to the last one competition-wise since last time the west had alllll their best remaining players and now gaul obviously can't play, bryan and dan would be 50/50 etc. where as our east team would be identical to the first one lol

lmao dude I'll have to fraps this shit for you just so you can see how bad the server was for me. i was just standing still, took a full 2 seconds to line up the aim at your chest, shot, then was so blown away by the lack of registration that i didnt pull out my pistol right away, and then the pistol bullets all just disappeared into thin air and i die and instantly think to myself "wow i just lost the whole fuckin tournament for all these guys who played their asses off" but thankfully the guys who were still alive held it down for me! absolutely insane match, def the closest that I can ever remember playing, especially in a finals situation. and the amount of time spent holding last flags successfully against full pushes was also fuckin absurd to witness. seemed like all 12 players were playing pretty consistently well for the whole match and had their moments to shine at some point clutching a flag. i wish i had remembered to have chuck record the hltvs, or just that one at least/ had an extra set of slots put in there so more people could watch. i hope someone recorded it :/

I had a lot of fun in the one match I played. Playing the whole thing in one night is definitely the way things should be done, and not having starters show shouldn't be a big complaint, as it is nice for the lower picks to get some playtime. Overall, I'd say this was certainly the best of these things that I've played in. Wish I'd had a functioning computer with a microphone to play the whole thing, those big gay lovers were great.

It was fun, although I think there's something important to consider here...

Don't ever let ck captain, EVER again

That being said, I'm just glad I got to play a match despite being a bit late to the signup, would like to do another one soon and possibly captain this time :)

I thought it turned out great. I would play again and be captain if need to. I enjoyed playing with my team. We had one not show up for the first match and another who couldn't play the second because of computer issues. Thanks Joel for showing up to play even with no mic and on a friends computer. Hopper who I drafted last stepped up and played great in both matches. Next time hopefully there will be more teams. Defiance finally did something right :o .

Parachutes are weak. It's not near as cool as in band of brothers, they clearly need to update the mod.

I think we should mg on charlie, in one of those bunkers. That's where the fun is.

Even though we lost in round one I had a blast. I feel like the draft is great for the community as a whole, because people are forced to play outside of their usual teams and usual cliques.

One thing that would help in the actual drafting of players would be to have each player in the pool tagged with Heavy/Rifle/Sniper and the TPG division they play in. Would make it a little easier for the captains to build a team.
