Motherboard: G1. Killer Gaming Motherboard
CPU: Intel Core i7 Cpu @3.20 GHz
Memory: 12.0 GB of 1600 mhz
Video Card: NVIDIA GTX 580 EVGA
Computer has been having problems the past few days. Random crashes with my sound just bugging out with a gray screen and then my monitor goes blank. I tried running Day of Defeat, I joined a server my game froze and it crashed and then got this message "display driver nvidia windows kernel mode driver version 314.22" and it linked me to this http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3007
Is my gpu dying? I don't really know what's going on. I had a previous problem with my other video card where after I got passed the Windows logging-in screen my screen would be black at the desktop and there would just be a cursor. I use a HDMI cable.

Ask a friend if you can borrow a gpu to make sure it's your gpu that's the problem and not the motherboard/cpu/psu/memory/anything else

Remove graphics drivers.
Run driver sweeper for all the nvidia display and physx drivers in safe mode. Reboot.
Turn off your system. Remove your gpu from your system. Reinstall.
Install the latest nvidia whql drivers.
Try your games.
You can also try that evga stress test program to look for artifacts and other stuff.
If none of this helps, send it in for warranty, or buy a gpu from a store and use it to test than return it.
You could also try the gpu in another computer as well.
Good luck.

Alright so I'm going to RMA my two cards. My other card I plugged in and I guess it overheated? Not sure but I put in my other card and most of the screen was covered in lines of red dots.

Get a new dvi cable hdmi limits to 60hz and sucks for pc..

If the other card also overheated, have you considered the possibility the psu is not powerfull enough?
