But in seriousness I find this to be a better alternative. More divisions = More competition. Less teams per division = more competition. I understand the inevitable 'teams die.' But with less teams having an actual chance of winning/competing, that can result in MORE teams dying. Would rather see in-between teams bounce around between divisions than see certain teams not even have a chance.

I also like the 4 divisions but it's only pre-season and once they better gauge the skill level of each team they will probably change it to 4 divs (like defiance said).

vVv should be in main if they are rockin' the same roster.

I like the divisions the way they are. I'm the most important person on this thread. If A is C, and B is C, then C. The divisions stay. That's how logic works, right?

Fa'real tho. Obvis there is a skill gap in main, but I welcome the opportunity to upset some teams. Most importantly, I just want to play Alex Kirk this season. That would make my DoD career worthwhile.

But,
I've never played a map where I felt I was completely disconnected from the other half of my team. It's like playing 2 maps at once. No way to see what is going on and provide the support that might be needed for the other 3 teammates.

The axis side L hall with the raised platform or whatever is going to make for some interesting gay play... Grab a sniper rifle and pick 'em as soon as you see movement- movie clip inc!

Hate to break it to everyone, but you can't get around having massive skill gaps within divisions. The top teams in any divison are always going to demolish the bottom teams (as they fucking should). What makes divisions interesting is having multiple teams of comparable skill levels at the top.

I would tend to even agree with Jared that there are a couple too many filler teams in invite that would be better off in main. Would moving these teams down make the competition in main stiffer? Yes. But there's nothing wrong with that. It's one thing to suggest that your own team is perhaps placed in the wrong division for whatever reason, but an entirely different thing to just be upset about the idea of getting your poop pushed in by the cream of the division. Heaven forbid you go watch a demo and try to learn something.

(For the record, I think neither devil nor 3h are inappropriately placed in main, but that there are probably a team or two that are inappropriately placed in invite).

I was actually quite happy with how the divisions were made for the upcoming season, sure getting rid of IM means there are a lot of teams in main, and the skill level from team to team varies quite a bit but that's what makes it fun isn't it? You gotta have a few teams that everyone wants to try and beat in order for there to be tough matches and mistakes to learn from.

Personally, I don't mind taking a beating if it keeps things in perspective and helps you work out what you are doing wrong as a player or a team and I was quite looking forward to playing teams that were more seasoned than us.

Oh and OUR TEAM IS AMAZEBALLS SKN! Twist is going to tell us all about being banned from HK during every game..who wouldn't want to be a part of that

Some of you may not like having 3 divisions or being stuck in Main with some upper level teams.. However, you have to keep in mind that we lose roughly 10-15 teams throughout the season on average due to inactivity. Season 31 started with 44 or so teams and we ended with 30 teams. Not sure on how many teams we would have by the start of this season (At the time we had roughly 28 teams signed up), we proceeded with just having 3 divisions. There have also been 6 new teams created this past week after we started our discussion on placements and divisions.

Out of the three divisions we felt that having a wide range of skill level in the main division will help teams still be able to compete and not get destroyed each and every week. We currently have 34 teams listed in a division. 4 teams have mentioned that there was a good chance they may not stay together for long, so that will bring us down to 30 teams if that happens before we start even week 1.

In the end we are just trying to make it as fun as possible without having to do so many move ups and move downs as teams die. Constantly having to re-balance a division will hurt teams the most as they lose their playoff points when they are moved to another division and have to start all over. We feel that the lower end Main teams will still be able to compete against each other without getting overly dominated. Some of the lower end teams won't even have to play the upper tier teams because we have that large amount of teams in Main.

We are here for the community and are trying our best to make this as fair and fun as possible for everyone. All the steps we are taking and all the changes we are making/have made are to give you all a better overall experience. If anyone has a question/suggestion/complaint about the TPG rules or decisions made thus far, TPG admins are always available to answer your questions and discuss your suggestions with you.

As always.....once pre-season has finished, we will take a look at how many teams are signed up and see if we feel there are enough teams for an IM division or not. If we reach 40 teams, we may add the IM division back and will re-do our placement process and decide who plays in what division.

I would also like to note that it is important for a) new teams to sign up and b) current teams to actually play the preseason so we can get a good handle on the number of teams as we approach the season.

In response to hudson: my team doesnt have the time nor will to sit and look at demos and shit. Ive played this game for so long at this point its just my deteriorating skill that is the issue, and my lack of time to fix that. We lost badly against all but 3 teams last season, with ward/alex/sean/zook playing, all invite caliber players and now we have an inactive sean left.

Ive said it before we will play whereever we are placed, but at this point the game should be enjoyable. If im being a whiny bitch, thats fine, oh well, but i play dod to have fun and last season was anything but.

I can understand if you just want to show up and play, and if truly you're getting crushed by everyone in a divison you need to be moved down, but if you can keep 3 matches close in a season, and win 1 or 2, you're probably too good for the division below you. That kind of in-between performance level is frustrating to be stuck in, but because of the skill gaps when you try to fix a problem like that in one division you usually just create a similar problem for someone else in another. If that's the level you find yourself at and you don't like it, you need to either (a) become worse (b) become better or (c) adjust your expectations of how your season is going to go.

I would agree 100% if our starters were still here from last season. Zook/ward/moosh left, and sean probably will be inactive or find a better team if he becomes active. The teams we beat last season were greasy, who then fell to im and lost more and died, lab who i think also died and is now back, and 1080p but they were missing people and it was pure fucking luck.

I would love to find players who had time to scrim, tried last season and wound up with an angry ward/sean because noone else showed

To be honest it is why i planned on finding a team to join but i felt bad killing one that technically could survive with a few additions.

From what I heard, Crafty rage quit TPG-AC and got real mad because he heard some story from Diso and co. about Scott, Ian, Stuart, and Kevin getting CAL banned for cheating against hsb in a scrim in 2006, and a buncha other tales about conspiracies with me "covering it up" and eventually selling CAL/CPL to some fake arabs.

Lest we forget that the whole purpose for SSSX existing was to cheat blatantly against hsb in scrims, and that I wasn't even an AC admin at the time, and that they indeed did get banned by Ben Puig and Errick Beaulieu, and that the whole thing was not only public on gotfrag, but utterly hilarious for everyone involved, and that all of these events took place roughly 3,000 days ago.

But yeah he mad, real mad.
