I don't need to view a 34 minute video of horrific accidents to know texting and driving is stupid, but we are still going to do it. Some of us get lucky, others don't. Knock on wood fellas.

Most of you dont even use both legs for driving... surely you can text and drive when you dont have to manual shift.

What's the problem with text and driving? Sure if you're in town doing it then it's not really good. Can't see any problems if you're on the highway or standing at a red light or something.

I agree with this but they found a study on the people who cause the accidents are older people who don't know how to use a cell phone. Now before I continue, what about hand held devices? Or just another passenger? Maybe you shouldn't be allowed to listen to music to focus on the road? I understand the concept of a text for a life, but then what about all these other distractions? I personally think putting on your make up is worse. All this is, in my opinion, is another way for a cop to give out a ticket at his own regard. Claming he saw you texting while driving and there is nothing you can do about it.

I don't remember if it was just here in NY or a bunch of states, but I remember a senator or congressman wanting to make it illegal to smoke in cars for the same reasons as it being illegal to text and drive.

They tried passing that in the tri-state area to my knowledge . I'm unaware if it passed or not. It's stupid really. Next thing you know they will make a commercial of someone trying to beat a yellow light and the next thing you know they run someone over. Accidents happen, are there ways to prevent these accidents from happening? Maybe, but at exchange for what? Something I found very interesting is when Hurricane Sandy happened and a lot of the traffic and residential lights went out. The Jersey City area, had one of the lowest rates of car accidents ever. Maybe there should be less regulation and then people would pay more attention to the road. Just a thought.

Things always seem better with less regulation. When people try to "get away with something" they tend to be overly careful and fuck up something else, ruining it for everyone.
