I've Broken Badly for at least 5 minutes once. Then my boredom was Broken Well after changing the channel.



TBH, I never really tried to get into it. Though I'm sure it's good, It's not really a genre I care about, so I did and watched other things instead.

That's kind of how I felt for much of the first season, but after that, the intensity just progresses exponentially each season. I think there's a lot left to be desired, and there are plot holes here and there, but there is some creative writing on the show and watching the main character transform into the person he is now is really entertaining. Going from chemistry teacher to the most prominent meth cook, along with his character change as this innocent family man to a guy who goes toe-to-toe against cartel, has been fun.

I don't really watch it for anything more than the intensity of the characters and their interactions. I go to Mad Men when I care about well-written drama, and The Walking Dead for mindless action. This lies somewhere between the two for me.

Pay attention to the Star Trek discussion - it sounds silly at first, but I think they put it there for a reason. I want to know if people have thoughts about that, because I have a few.

Not gonna lie, I zoned the fuck out when he went crazy with the Star Trek shit. Could be foreshadowing, who knows.

The transporter discussion is easy to connect, in my opinion. Skinny Pete says that in Star Trek, each time someone is transported they are actually killed and copied. That is, their physical material (bones, molecules, etc.) are destroyed and recreated like Xerox. So each subsequent transport is a copy of a copy, bringing an individual further and further away from his/her original physical self.

That's exactly what we're seeing from Walt, though more in regards to his personality/character than his physical form. On one end of the spectrum is Walter White, chemistry teacher, and on the other is Heisenberg, drug lord. Each day his original self, Walter White, is killed more and more and subsequently his identity is slowly becoming Heisenberg; it is no longer an alter-ego, but who he actually is at his core.

The pie eating contest is tougher and ambiguous for a reason, so people can form their own beliefs. Basically I think Walt is Spock, Hank is Kirk, and someone I can't figure out is Chekov. Hank will try to beat Walt fairly and lose (throws up early in the contest and can't eat as much as Spock), someone else will try to out-trick Walt and get killed (reference to Chekov having the pies transported out of his stomach), and Walt will escape somehow. Jesse might be Chekov, and in an attempt to rid himself of his guilt, try to bring Walt down. But then he loses somehow.

But a friend of mine pointed out that Jesse left his house before the story was over, and Badger said "you're leaving at the best part," or whatever. So Jesse might not stick around for the end of the series, and so he may be none of the characters in the pie-eating contest.

It was a really random dialogue, but I doubt the writers of Breaking Bad did not have some rationale behind it. That wouldn't be like them.

But I'll give you credit that I enjoyed reading that, but you are thinking way too much into it with that.

I am curious how Walt's house gets boarded up,etc. He beats cancer, makes better meth for the lady, and somehow ends up with a M60. But he has to go all the way back for the racin? I have no idea where this story is going to end up. I can't believe Hank is going down this path though. I honestly would of seen it different. I don't want hank to oppose walk, at least have more of a discussion. How can he put a case together with just initials. Meh.

Great show, but I seriously think the writers are going to end up putting too much information in just eight episodes and it's going to twist my arm the same way Star Wars Episode 3 did.

After avoiding this thread until I watched, I did so last night. Now you're banned, and this is going to be a one man conversation. That's OK, I have those a lot except it's usually front of the mirror with my dick in one hand, other arm flexing of course.

ALSO, don't look too hard into the star trek rant. Vince Gilligan has publicly said that people are already delving to deep into it when in fact the whole thing was just an idea he had brought up a few years back to the other writers, saying he had a great idea for a star trek episode, and this was his chance to just throw it in there in a somewhat coherent way for some comedic relief (as is typical for the c3po and r2d2 of breaking bad; skinny pete and badger). Granted that could be him misdirecting us, as the show is notorious for their amazing job of foreshadowing massive events early in the season so, only time will tell. Absolutely loved blood money though, after the first half finale we all sit back and think "man how long are they gonna wait until the Hank/Walt confrontation? Will Hank even go after him or will he give him a chance? etc etc and BAM right off the bat first episode they throw it in your face. That scene was so brilliantly written and portrayed by Cranston and Norris. Had everyone on the edge of their seats quite literally I'm sure. There is a shitload of story left to tell and 7 episodes left, this thing is gonna be an absolute barn burner of a once in a lifetime series culminating in some epic type shit for the next 7 weeks! Can. Not. Wait.
