Re: Fantasy Footbal Draft Results
I had my most expensive ($100 buy-in) and longest running (7th season w/ same 8) fantasy draft yesterday down in temecula, CA. 10/12 of us got together for it. I had the 11th pick out of 12 in a snake draft. We also run a half point per reception, and start QB RB/RB WR/WR TE FLEX K DEF/ST with 7 bench spots. 6 pts per passing TD. We also do waivers by a money bidding system instead of the traditional waiver order. Everything else is pretty standard. I want to say before hand that i mocked a lot and did NOT like this draft spot. I would have preferred the #1 pick, or somewhere in the 4-7 range. But this is what mine looks like.
Round 1 (11th): STEVEN JACKSON RB, Falcons - I was committed to RB/RB with my first 2 picks, and 9 of the first 10 picks ahead of me were running backs. there was nobody i really liked there at #11. Alfred Morris was there, but i refused to pick him. I am just not a fan or a believer. but jackson is poised for a big year. turner, as bad as he has looked in the past 3 seasons, has never scored less than 10 TDs in that offense. Jackson is in shape and will stay on the field on 3rd down, which is something turner never did.
Round 2 (14th): FRANK GORE RB, 49rs - in a half ppr league, gore is not a bad pick here. Health issues are a concern for me but he produces well when he's on the field and catches a lot of passes. and without crabtree, you know they will get off the bus running the ball
Round 3 (35th): RANDALL COBB WR, Packers - Without jennings, he is going to get a LOT more looks in the passing game and he will get touches out of the backfield too. Perfectly happy with having him as my WR1. Rodgers is going to throw for 40 TDs and 5000 yards, and someone has to catch them and he is easily the best WR of the group.
Round 4 (38th): MARQUES COLSTON WR, Saints - I planned on going hard on running backs this draft, and most of my mocks had me taking a RB in the 4th (or even with my 3rd pick, and i followed up with the best WR available), but i just didnt like ANY of the running backs at this 38th spot. Every player in this league knows what they are doing and a i knew a lot of them would be heavy on running backs. I also know i already shored up my 2 starting running backs already, and it is a half ppr, so i went with another WR from a 40td/5k passing yard offense with colston. Just from a pure volume standpoint, with brees routinely throwing it 40-45 times a game, he is going to get a ton of balls and he's the #1 red zone target. he's a lock for 1200 yards and 9 TDs imo, and could put up a lot more more.
Round 5 (59th): STEVE SMITH WR, Panthers - I wasn't going to go WR here, so this is a bit of a reach, but there is a reason. the 12th pick, who has 2 picks in a row after my pick, went RB/RB/RB/QB so i knew for a fact he would be going for a WR after my rnd 5 pick. He would most definitely would have got Steve Smith also. So i grabbed smith ahead of him, knowing that he would not take any of the running backs off the board that i wanted, even though i was targeting a RB with my 5th pick. He is a pretty consistent producer and cam newton is only getting better as a passer which will only benefit smith.
Round 6 (62nd): CHRIS IVORY RB, Jets - Ivory is pretty good value here in my opinion. He is a starter on a team with a horrible passing game and a rookie QB starting. They also have 3 first round picks on the O line and they are a very good at run blocking. Ivory is also a talented runner. I think he will get a lot of touches and have a lot of opportunities. To have a starting running back at my flex (or have the option to be steve smith there) is pretty good imo.
Round 7 (83rd): TAVON AUSTIN WR, Rams - very talented and electric player. he is a slot WR and he will be sliding right into the spot left by danny amendola who went to the pats. and amendola was far and away their #1 option in that offense.
Round 8 (86th): RUSSELL WILSON QB, Seahawks - I was practicing a WAIT ON QB strategy. I was getting guys like romo in the 8th or 9th, which is excellent value. Hate all you want on him and his ability to win in the playoffs or his horrible untimely interceptions, but the guy puts up fantasy numbers and has quite a few very good and elite weapons there. BUT, romo went before my 83rd pick and wilson slipped down. I like running with wilson as my QB if i can get him in the 8th. The guy runs the ball too which is an added bonus. Also, when the guy gets percy harvin back and sidney rice gets healthy, he has a ton of weapons to work with as well as a really strong run game.
Round 9 and beyond is the point where i started drafting fliers and handcuffs... It is also the point where my memory starts getting blurry because i was drinking since before round 1. But, i will leave the final results down below.
QB - Russell Wilson
RB - Steven Jackson
RB - Frank Gore
WR - Randall Cobb
WR - Marques Colston
TE - Greg Olson
FLEX - Steve Smith
K - Blair Walsh
D/ST - Denver Broncos
BN - Chris Ivory
BN - Tavon Austin
BN - Bernard Pierce
BN - Jaquizz Rodgers
BN - Alshon Jeffery
BN - Kendall Hunter
BN - Josh Freeman
I didn't like the 11th pick, but i feel like i was able to get a very well rounded team. No glaring needs, but nobody at 1 position that is super elite because i picked so low in the 1st and went RB/RB. I had to wait until the the end of the 3rd to get my first WR but once again, i got 2 guys that were solid at the WR position. Getting my QB that late was a steal as well.
We used ESPN and i found this in my e-mail after the draft

I'm not sure how accurate that can be at this point, but i believe i did have one of the better drafts of the group. If any of you participated in an ESPN draft, post your report card. It should be in your ESPN e-mail inbox.
I have 2 more drafts ($50 and $75) both this wednesday night @ 7pm lol. I don't know if that is going to be confusing, but we'll see. I will post results to those drafts wednesday night.

Re: Fantasy Footbal Draft Results
I can't judge you unless I know what the other people were picking can you post the whole draft.
I'm serious. I'm obsessed with fantasy football and I can give you a better opinion knowing what you didn't pick when it was available.

Re: Fantasy Footbal Draft Results
Unfortunately, I was working during the draft and had to autodraft. I think you should have went with the 49ers defense though ^_^

Re: Fantasy Footbal Draft Results
I would have gone with Forte/Morris over Jackson at 11 if they were available. Also, not sure if you were drafting against a bunch of East Coasters but Wilson at 86 is a steal. He definitely shouldn't have dropped that far. Then again he also shouldn't have dropped to the third round in the real draft either.
Re: Fantasy Footbal Draft Results
I was in the same draft position and chose Alfred Morris. The thing that bothers me about Jackson is that I think he won't be consistent considering the offense clearly revolves around the passing game with Ryan, Jones, and White. He will have his games for sure but I think they could be pretty hit or miss and that's not what I'm looking for in my RB1. Shanahan has always loved to run the ball and with RGIII coming back from injury I'm sure the coaching staff will try to convince him to use his legs less and throw more. I'm banking on the fact that equals more check downs to Morris and maybe a few more goal line carries. Jackson and Gore are still a really good combo though. Ive had Gore a few times over the past 5 years and dude has pretty much been a stud.sevEN wrote:Round 1 (11th): STEVEN JACKSON RB, Falcons - I was committed to RB/RB with my first 2 picks, and 9 of the first 10 picks ahead of me were running backs. there was nobody i really liked there at #11. My first draft I had to do at work and is a mess, but I am hoping drafting Gronk in the 7th round will give me an edge later in the season if he comes back healthy. The dod fantasy draft is Sunday so hopefully that goes better.

Your concerns with jackson are legit, but i just don't like morris. i refused to draft him. i admit i probably should have gotten forte instead of jackson, but i just cant overlook turner's production in that backfield despite looking fat and slow (10 TDs or more in the past 3 seasons). and when you upgrade to a guy who is bigger, faster, stronger, and a better pass catcher out of the backfield, it sounds really good to me. also, your point about the passing game revolving around ryan/jones/white/gonzalez is a big reason why i went jackson. jackson has been the only weapon on his team's offense for pretty much his entire career. nobody has ever had to worry about a passing game when he is running the ball. i don't think he'll face a single stacked box this season with the pass catching weapons the falcons have. if he stays healthy, his situation in atl right now looks really solid.
also about morris, i just dont buy into him. he will not come close to reproducing his numbers from last year, and helu will take a lot of 3rd down touches. morris caught 13 balls last year and we are in a ppr league so i want my RB to be catching 40-50 balls and morris will never do that. also, i still will never trust a shanahan running back... he may have stuck with 1 last year but he is prone to give any random ass guy on the line up the starting job and 30 touches at any point. he is very unpredictable.
polak, i am trying to locate a copy of the entire draft in order but i can't seem to find it.
Re: Fantasy Footbal Draft Results
Yeah Shanahan's love for RB by committee makes me nervous and Helu looked good on Saturday. I just checked out your full roster and props for having 2 OSU alums on the roster. Quizz and his older brother James are really cool guys. I got to play in an IM basketball game against him and a guy on my team tried to take a charge. Quizz just lowered his shoulder and plowed into the guy knocking him 10 feet back....no call by the ref lol.sevEN wrote:showtime wrote:I was in the same draft position and chose Alfred Morris. idk, kinda feeling LaMichael James will start to shark a lot of Gore's touches this season, with increased triple option threat with the aforementioned and Kendall Hunter.
Re: Fantasy Footbal Draft Results
he may a little bit, but only for the sole purpose of keeping gore fresh. make no mistake, gore is THE guy there. if they give any carries to james or hunter, it wont be goal line carries.`NG wrote:idk, kinda feeling LaMichael James will start to shark a lot of Gore's touches this season, with increased triple option threat with the aforementioned and Kendall Hunter.
But i don't see either one of those guys taking enough carries from gore that it makes gore a weak RB2 option in a PPR league. Gore will still get his

Re: Fantasy Footbal Draft Results
I'm not huge into fantasy football, as I am not huge into fantasy sports in general. I like watching guys try hard to win rather than just looking at stats (which is why I'll never concede that LeBron James is better than Kobe Bryant), but I digress.
My league is a bunch of my Long Beach friends (degens who didn't go to college) who really don't know the sport too well, but love the $2 domestic Monday night specials at the local fish restaurant where we all get together to watch the game and bullshit. The league has a guy from England who doesn't even know all the rules to American football yet, two guys playing fantasy for the first time, my really stupid friend who is a major Patriots homer. There are three hardcore Pats fans. The Patriots defense went in like the 8th round, I think. About 5 or 6 guys are pretty knowledgeable. Anyway, I had the 4th overall pick in a 12 team league. We play 0.3 PPR, with bonuses (standards, including a 4.20 point bonus for any QB who throws for 420 yards. Cause we're 12). We also are doing auction style waivers, so I drafted a defense before the first round so that I don't spend all my money on matchup defenses who play the Raiders/Chiefs/etc, which is my normal strategy.

Re: Fantasy Footbal Draft Results
I think your initial roster looks decent, seven, it is hard to get good depth in a league that large. however, the decision to draft jackson/gore instead of forte/morris is something you will think about all season. i had morris last year and he was the biggest steal in the league. while shanny does have a history of fucking around with RBs, his season was so successful, i cant see Morris being a letdown.
As far as my (1st) draft went, I am in a 10 team league and this is the 11th season for the league with pretty much the same managers, so we all are prety experienced in how we draft. We operate with QB, RB RB, WR WR WR, FLEX, TE; D, K. Here is what I got.
1st round(1st) - AP - no brainer here, nothing needs to be said.
2nd - Drew Brees - i didnt want to take a QB this high, but when Brees was still sitting there, and him being one of the top scoring QBs in FF, i felt him and AP would be tough week in and week out.
3rd - Chris Johson - Probably a very risky pick, but this draft was very RB heavy early on. He was the best back in the league a few seasons ago and went downhill quick. Hes had a good preseason, his speed is still there, and the titans have improved their line. If he is succesful, I feel I will be the best team in the league.
4th and 5th - Reggie Wayne and Hakeem nicks - at this point the draft I have missed out on any big WRs and this is easily the weakest part of my team. However, I got veterans how are proven scorers. Wayne had a tremendous season with Luck and Nicks is all about staying healthy. I am not looking for both to win me games, but just to be consistent.
6th - jermichael finley - i honestly feel this was a steal. IMO he has potential to be the top scoring TE in the league considering the offense plays in. Last season he was injured so he slid down the rankings, but he was playing very well. Again with him, its about staying healthy
7th - Darren sproles - he will be my backup RB and used in the flex spot depending on matchups. He has big scoring potential as ive had him for 3 seasons in a row now. He does have some busts of a game, so i need to use him in the right matchup.
8th - miles austin - whatever, not much left at this point.
9th - seattle - yea i went early and was that guy but i wanted the top scoring d in the league
thats my starting lineup with people like emmanuel sanders, big ben as my backups

Re: Fantasy Footbal Draft Results
I'm just gonna post my final roster. 10 team, standard, been with the same set of guys for a few years running. every year they manage to find a way to screw me because I know way more about football (and sports in general) than any of them and always end up with better drafted teams + great value trades that make me near unstoppable. I feel like this draft turned out as well as any that I've ever participated in, although it's usually a 12 team league so realistically I wouldn't typically have been able to come out with these results-
QB- Matt Ryan (backed up by Andrew Luck)
RB1- Arian Foster (3rd overall)
RB2 - Chris Johnson (2nd round)
WR1 - Demaryius Thomas
WR2 - Mike Wallace
TE - Antonio Gates
Flex - Larry Fitzgerald
D/ST - Chi Bears
K - Phil Dawson
My bench is where the money gets made, I've got wide outs up the ass to turn into whatever I need after the first couple of weeks reveal the true breadwinners and busts. Looking at my WRs, Thomas is the only one I'm kind of attached to and who would likely stay in his spot, but the following players are also potential major value picks.
Anquan Bouldin - loved this pick, relatively late in the draft. I think he'll bud in SF and will either become my WR2 or be used to upgrade me at another spot (depending on the performances of Wallace and Fitz
Greg Jennings - Could potentially come back big this year depending on the arm of Ponder and their chemistry, which appears to look good thus far. Though, it is a run first offense obviously with mr. allday28, Jennings could reap the benefits of stacked boxes and end up with some big games.
Mark Ingram
Bernard Pierce
Jered Cook
Sam Bradford (dropping him within the first 2 weeks, or trading him to a team with a QB injury issue.)
overall not too shabby. turning one or two of those wide outs into a better RB for the flex is the goal, and I have some BYE week issues with all positions that I'll need to deal with down the road but that's why I went so heavy on potential skill on the bench rather than get overly involved with the BYEs. Just a new strategy for me to try out since every year I break 1 or 2 blockbuster trades that put me over the edge for the long haul. GOOD LUCK ALL YOU FANTASY FOOTBALLERS.
QB- Matt Ryan (backed up by Andrew Luck)
RB1- Arian Foster (3rd overall)
RB2 - Chris Johnson (2nd round)
WR1 - Demaryius Thomas
WR2 - Mike Wallace
TE - Antonio Gates
Flex - Larry Fitzgerald
D/ST - Chi Bears
K - Phil Dawson
My bench is where the money gets made, I've got wide outs up the ass to turn into whatever I need after the first couple of weeks reveal the true breadwinners and busts. Looking at my WRs, Thomas is the only one I'm kind of attached to and who would likely stay in his spot, but the following players are also potential major value picks.

Re: Fantasy Footbal Draft Results
damn russel wilson went in the 8th round? steal
Re: Fantasy Footbal Draft Results
i fully admit my mistake of not taking forte instead of jackson, but i stand by my choice of passing on morris. the guy just doesnt catch any passes, and he is in shanahan's offense. fantasy is about managing risk and getting the safest picks. as close to sure things as you can get. and i just dont trust morris like i dont trust jules in scrims (:D)
as for defiance and corey's teams, i just dont know how to judge 10 man leagues. in 10 man leagues, every team is so damn stacked, and the benches are so deep, that it becomes a matter of preference at that point.
ya kobe, wilson in the 8th. albeit, it was the top of the 8th, but i still think i got GREAT value compared to the guys who drafted second round picks on guys like rodgers brees manning brady etc. wilson has a lot of added value as a rusher as well.
also, as polak noted early in the thread, it's hard to evaluate w/o seeing where you picked each player. furthermore, you can better evaluate if you have the entire draft list as well to see who was there when you picked.

Re: Fantasy Footbal Draft Results
what pick were you? If that is a 14 team draft, i think it's a good one. if it's a 12 team draft, about average but a little weak at RB (remember, i am NOT a morris fan and i believe pierce will have that starting job by week 6-7).Theworst wrote:QB - Matt Ryan

I love woodhead though. and jones might see more time as a WR with the loss of the baltimore TEs and boldin.

Re: Fantasy Footbal Draft Results
It's a 14 team draft with people at my work(75$ a person). I had 4th pick and took Matt Ryan(would have taken a running back first round but my top 3 choices went in the first three picks(Adrian Peterson, Marshawn Lynch and C.J. Spiller) and I knew I could snatch Alfred Morris second pick. My initial plan was to get one of those three running backs and get Russell Wilson, RG3 or Colin Kaepernick in 2nd-3rd round but that was a bust so I went with my QB. Also, they do some weird shit and Defenses are random picked for each person and I ended up with 49ers, not too shabby~sevEN wrote:what pick were you? 12 Team, 1 PPR, 6 PPTD, 6 bench slots. Pretty standard other than that. 7th pick. 15th round was a throwaway that I should have played a little smarter, but I'm a Bills fan, so I figured I'd waste my last pick and grab a QB off waivers for the bye.
Manuel Stimulation
1. Jamaal Charles
2. A.J. Green
3. Chris Johnson
4. Tony Gonzalez
5. Eric Decker
6. Matthew Stafford
7. Lamar Miller
8. Mike Williams
9. Andre Brown
10. Golden Tate
11. Antonio Gates
12. Ryan Broyles
13. Baltimore
14. Phil Dawson
15. EJ Manuel
EDIT: Oh, and with regards to EJ, I immediately dropped him for Tampa Bay's D. Baltimore plays Denver week one, and TB plays the Jets. I'll gladly play the matchup on that one.

Re: Fantasy Footbal Draft Results
i think this is a pretty solid draft. very similar set up to what i am playing in my first post. i like stafford in the mid 6th a lot. i think charles is a great pick too esp in a ppr league. i am not sure what other WRs were available at your 2nd pick but i might have picked dez bryant or brandon marshall of either of them were available. i also might have went RB again and waited for someone like Vincent Jackson to be my #1 WR, but i tend to be heavy on RB most of the time esp since we didnt always play PPR. but nice draft none the lessescher wrote:12 Team, 1 PPR, 6 PPTD, 6 bench slots. eh I'm just rosterbating, not looking for anyone's personal opinions otherwise I'd have posted all the necessary info to do so haha even though I'm Mr. championship choke artist, I've been perennial #1 seed every league I've played since 2009. fantasy football, baseball and hockey are kind of my forte. hopefully I've shed the championship curse this year though. and yeah 10 team leagues are a different kind of monster, but when you're playing with 5 morons, 3 wannabes and 1 guy who actually knows a little bit about the game, it makes things realllly easy lmao

Re: Fantasy Footbal Draft Results
Tell me how I did, broskies.
Second time playing fantasy football, first time doing my own draft. I only had 30 minutes to prepare, but I think i did ok?
Tom Brady NE - QB
Julio Jones Atl - WR
Demaryius Thomas Den - WR
Danny Amendola NE - WR
Adrian Peterson Min - RB
Ahmad Bradshaw Ind - RB
Kyle Rudolph Min - TE
Bench:
Robert Griffin III Was - QB
Golden Tate Sea - WR
Rashard Mendenhall Ari - RB
Antonio Gates SD - TE
Brian Hartline Mia - WR
BenJarvus Green-Ellis Cin - RB
Janakowski is my kicker, and I have the Packer defense/special teams.
I really don't know much about fantasy football, so don't flame me too hard
A lot of my later picks were last second choices, the guy in front of me took a couple players I really wanted. I ended up picking RGIII because he fell pretty far and figured I could use him as a trade piece a couple weeks into the season.

not bad at all dude.. a couple question marks there at RB like bradshaw and mendenhall, so i would keep an eye out for RBs on the waiver.james- wrote:Tell me how I did, broskies.

Re: Fantasy Footbal Draft Results
not gonna lie, i am not liking this team at all. QB rnd 1 is going to hurt you. there is such a deep QB class... and ryan mathews as a RB2 is pretty damn weak. i wouldn't even start mathews in my flex. but your QB will throw up some 40 pt games and carry you some weeks which is always nice, especially if you are playing in a league that is 6 pts per passing touchdown.SKiNnTo wrote:10 Drew Brees, NO QB

Re: Fantasy Footbal Draft Results

Here is my second league draft from tonight. 50 dollar league. it is a 10 team league so the rosters are a bit more stacked, but i think i have the best bench in the world there. every one of those guys are guys that i have mentally targeted in the late rounds. couldn't be happier with the depth. i also got andrew luck in the 11th, which is sickening. and sproles in the flex?? in a ppr league?? holy shit. i just have my doubts about cook at TE but i waited so long to get TE that it wasn't a bad pick at that moment. i just have to hope the guy lives up to his physical abilities and the annual hype he has around him... which never ends up happening lol.
Re: Fantasy Footbal Draft Results
Here is my mess of a first draft. It's a 12 team, non-PPR league. Also, if you have already posted how much you hate Morris (looking at you Seven
) then you can skip that pick in your critique.
Alfred Morris (10)
Peyton Manning (15)
Roddy White (34)
David Wilson (39)
James Jones (58)
Rob Gronkowski (63)
Golden Tate (82)
Andre Brown (87)
TY Hilton (106)
New England (111)
Andy Dalton (130)
Lawrence Tynes (135)
Joique Bell (154)
Brandon Pettigrew (159)
Santana Moss (178)
Jeremy Kerley (183)
Some thoughts on my draft:
-I normally would go RB1 and RB2 for my first 2 picks but Peyton was available at 15 and he is going to have a monster year (fingers crossed). He has a ton of weapons and when you look at how shitty the defenses are in AFC West (not to mention Jacksonville and Philly) it just won't be fair.
-My WR1 is pretty weak.....pretty disappointed with that pick.
-Gronk in Round 6 is hopefully going to pay off. A lot of people are scared to draft him due to injury but all the reports are saying he is ahead of schedule. Even if he is put on the PUP list he will still be back after week 6 which is enough time to get some value during the regular season and playoffs from him.
-Golden Tate and TY Hilton in Rounds 7 and 9 are awesome I think. Russell Wilson is going to target Rice and Tate a lot especially with Harvin on the PUP list for the start of the season. And TY Hilton is going to blow up this year, he had a great second half of last season.
Alfred Morris (10)

Re: Fantasy Footbal Draft Results
i would agree with all of your "thoughts" on the draft. peyton brees and rodgers are the only 3 i would consider picking near the top, but not that high in the 2nd. being that high i would have stuck to the rb/rb strategy. bottom of the 2nd though, if one of those 3 is there... hard to argue against that. santana moss was a wasted pick imo. i would use a pick at that spot to try to grab a flier. someone who has break out potential. there are some good fliers out there. same goes for the kerley pick. i wouldnt touch anyone in the jets passing game. but i like ty hilton a lot just like you do. tate i am not sure about but russell has to throw it to someone and with harvin gone and rice on and off the field, he should get a lot of looks. not sure what i think of wilson right now considering brown will vulture all of his goal line touches away. i like that you have brown also though. D is drafted rather high based on what i like to do. i like to play a lot of match up defense week to week, and i get my defense very very late. for example, i just drafted colts D (ranked 32nd in most if not all fantasy rankings) simply because they are playing the raiders week 1. then i'll dump them. i also got the bucs too cuz they play the jets, so im not sure who i'll go with. although i did pick broncos D in my original post because i just didn't like ANY of the available players at the time and the broncos D is worthy of a non-bottom 2 pick.showtime wrote:Here is my mess of a first draft. draft seems well thought out, with back up support behind wilson, gronk and manning. i still say wait on qb and stack your WR/RB position with your first 4 picks though. RB/RB/WR/WR in any order even any combination of RB/RB/WR/RB is pretty awesome.

Is it bad that my draft is in 3 days and I have no idea who 95% of these people are? I'm going to assume no.
Re: Fantasy Footbal Draft Results
i really like your team also. those are all players i am high on. although if your league was a ppr league or even a .5ppr league, this team would make a LOT more sense and would be a hell of a lot better. normally i would have grabbed a RB with your 3rd pick because graham is NEVER there at the top of the 3rd even in a 10 team draft. but if it were me, i very well might grab graham at the top of the 3rd but only if i went RB/RB. if i went RB/WR and graham was available at my 3rd pick, that would be a very tough call for me. in ppr i would take him, no ppr i would have went best available RB. either way, i like hopkins, bryant, richardson, hilton, rice, and wilson. and i wont comment on wilson's draft spot because it looks like you have already admitted you reached and that you could have gotten him in the 8th or 9th (especially in a 10 team and not a 12 team). i would have tried to grab bernard pierce at some point thoughJkid wrote:10 Teams so teams are a bit stacked; no-ppr

Re: Fantasy Footbal Draft Results
well first off, you have an elite QB. as ive said before, brees rodgers and manning (in that order) are the only QBs i would consider taking at the top of the draft. so that is solid. I have concerns about foster's health, but if he's healthy he is a good pick at #3. right around where i think he'll end up by the end of the season. i also feel like because of jonathan stewart starting on the PUP list, deangelo williams as your RB2 will be solid for the first 6 weeks and maybe 8-9 weeks as they ease stewart back into the line up.. but normally i would say your RBs are really weak which is bad in a standard scoring league. BUT your WRs are pretty damn sick and i think jordy nelson as your WR3 in the flex is pretty strong. fitz and welker will be target machines and catch 90+ balls each no problem. bengals D is going to be an elite fantasy D, so that's solid for you, although 9th is a bit high. i like match up defenses so i play a different defense every week almost. also a kicker at #8 was waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too early.i like rueban randle as a sleepr/bench player though. nicks is always hurt and cruz plays the slot so he is going to be a big target for eli on the outside and in the redzone if nicks is banged up. ingram has almost no starters value due to being in a 3 back committee there.toxinatoR wrote:1. all in all, i think you had a strong top half of the draft but missed on some available sleepers in the later rounds. try to target the physically gifted guys who are in their 2nd or 3rd year, that are in starting roles on shitty teams (cecil shorts, daryl richardson, michael floyd, TY hilton) because those are the types of guys that are going to be on the field a lot, and have the physical abilities to go nuts, even if it's for a bad team. this is fantasy and even garbage time points count so guys like michael floyd and cecil shorts who will be throwing the ball alot at the end of the game trying to catch up will rack up a lot of easy 4th quarter fantasy points.

A lot of my later picks were last second choices, the guy in front of me took a couple players I really wanted. I ended up picking RGIII because he fell pretty far and figured I could use him as a trade piece a couple weeks into the season.

He's played for months on a fractured foot before, so the injury may mean nothing for him. Otherwise, agreed on scouting the waiver wire.james- wrote:Thanks.

Anyone who drafted David Wilson before tonight seemingly got a huuuuuuuge boost in value.

i love both of those teams. the first one is even better considering you have richardson on the bench... but you have a lot of bench guys that i really like. very balanced too. very nice drafts brahFleener wrote:I've got two money leagues that I care about;

Calling it now, Giovanni Bernard is going to be a stud if the use him in the slot or for the option. He could be a PPR monster as early as next season.
Or so the internet tells me.

First season playing fantasy, so I'm a little iffy on this draft. Yahoo says I deserve a C, we'll see.
1. (13) Alfred Morris (Was - RB)
2. (16) A.J. Green (Cin - WR)
3. (41) Reggie Wayne (Ind - WR)

16. (212) Santonio Holmes (NYJ - WR)
I wasn't real thrilled about my draft position, and having to go with Alfred Morris at RB is less than ideal to say the least. This league is a bit weird in that it is QB-WR-WR-WR-RB-RB-TE-FLEX. I'm also a niners fan, so theres that bias.
I really think Bradford is a sleeper, and possibly starter worthy for weeks he isn't facing niners/seattle defense. I also think Vernon Davis might be worthy with Crabtree gone for so long, I could see him touching the ball a lot more.
Overall, I think this is a pretty average team and I'm going to get ran. Fortunately we are betting green plants, not dollars.

Re: Fantasy Footbal Draft Results
well, i definitely think you have some studs there. AJ Green is going to be the #2 or #3 fantasy WR this year. i also feel like there were some reaches there (reggie wayne 3rd round, boldin 5th round) but its hard to say because it is a 14 team draft and i don't know who was available during those picks. but i can say without a doubt that 6th round defense is absurd and way way way too early. but hey, you mentioned you were a 9rs fan and the 9rs D was going to go top 2 or 3, so go get them if you would like to root for them. sometimes fantasy is about picking players you like so you can root for them. there are certain guys i wont even draft no matter what cuz i just dont want to root for a guy i don't like to do well simply for my fantasy numbers.zi0n_ wrote:First season playing fantasy, so I'm a little iffy on this draft. and although i do like chris ivory a lot, waiting until round 7 to draft your second RB is going to hurt you a lot. keep an eye for waiver fliers and maybe snag a handcuff or 2 if they are still on the waiver wire so you can possibly get lucky with an injury.

Who are some RB's to peep on the wire though? In my league with so many picks, RB was just completely decimated by the time I could pick Morris.

Re: Fantasy Footbal Draft Results
ahahah first off thank you. i am just a nerd that is obsessed with football/basketball. but as far as waiver guys... even though there are a lot of 3-7th rnd picks in between morris and waiver... i like michael tolbert for the first 6-8 weeks. with stewart on the PUP list, i think he will see a lot of goal line caries and snaps in general. he should be undrafted in all or most leagues. i also like woodhead in ppr leagues. he usually gets drafted though due to him being ranked around the 10th-13th round.. any other guys are just late round picks. there isnt going to be anything valuable on the waiver until a few weeks go by.. or even 6-8 weeks.. we have to see who emerges, and who gets injured. but i keep drafting really talented guys that have starting talent but are stuck behind other starters such as kendell hunter, bryce brown, bernard pierce, but these guys are all drafted so chances are you wont find them on the waiver after your draft unless you are in a 10 team league and get really lucky. i'll keep posting on here throughout the season as injuries and break out games happen to help everyone out.zi0n_ wrote:fasho, seven aka john clatyon of 1911.

Re: Fantasy Footbal Draft Results
Just did my $50 buy in league, which was a keeper league that had an owner abandon a team. So I got a shot at some good pickups:
(3)- Adrian Peterson- RB
(22)- David Wilson- RB
(27)- Brandon Marshall- WR
(46)- Maques Colston- WR
(51)- Matthew Stafford- QB
(70)- Ryan Matthews- RB
(75)- Greg Olsen- TE
(94)- Cincinnati Defense--> Purely a fan move, but it will most likely work out fine.
(99)- Steve Johnson- WR
(118)- Some linebacker, shitty league rules- autopicked while I was on the phone
(123)- Justin Tucker- K
(142) Tyler Eifert- TE
(147)- Pierre Thomas- RB
(166)- Alex Smith- QB
(171)- Jacquizz Rodgers- RB
(190)- Malcom Floyd- WR
Things went pretty well, but getting stuck with autopick due to a very poorly timed phone call kinda effed me towards the end.

The RG3 trade piece could help you find another solid RB a few weeks in, too. As long as they are healthy (and are getting the majority of the workload for their teams), I like both Bradshaw and Mendenhall as situational starts depending on their matchups. Solid squad, brah.
