Re: Mylo Xyloto
I watched their concert here at Rock In Rio and it was good. Well at least their old songs were good. But since that crap X&Y album I don't pretty much like Coldplay anymore - I rather prefer spending my team listening to either At the drive in or Muse.

rofl coldplay isn't even on the same planet as muse. i get why some people (with vaginas over the age of 40) like coldplay, but i'll never understand how they ended up getting play on alt rock stations.

I think you got lost somewhere between birth and defining good music in your head. You should probably schedule an appointment with a psychiatrist immediately. Drugs will be necessary.alex kirk wrote:Neither of which are located on the planet known as "Good Music" in the galaxy of "Songs that don't sound like horse piss."scorch- wrote:rofl coldplay isn't even on the same planet as muse. i get why some people (with vaginas over the age of 40) like coldplay, but i'll never understand how they ended up getting play on alt rock stations.

If Muse is supposed to be considered good music and a band that is far beyond the creative ability of Coldplay, then I believe I'm too far gone from the definition of "good music." Both just sound like...any other band you might hear on the radio. Nothing special.scorch- wrote:I think you got lost somewhere between birth and defining good music in your head. The only Coldplay Alex likes is the Bob Dylan/Colin Meloy bluegrass Appalachian indie-folk cover album they did as a joke for a charity benefiting the musically oblivious.
So not a hipster though.

I enjoy Coldplay thoroughly. I find that they stay ever so current with each album they produce.
On another note, last night I saw Mumford & Song @ the Air Canada Centre and it was amazing. They were unbelievable live and the crowd presence was phenomenal! The ACC was sold out and the band said this was their biggest venue to date x2 of their previous large audience. Would recommend seeing them! Very humble individuals as well.
I think they are huge in Canada due to the fact that Great Big Sea was extremely popular. Sound similar to them.

Re: Mylo Xyloto
New Born is probably their best song. Plug-in baby is probably my favorite song after that. Depends on really what kind of music you like. Stockholm Syndrome is pretty sick. Hysteria is good. Bliss. Just listing ones that you probably haven't heard on the radio like the stuff off resistance, knights of cydonia, supermassive blackhole, etc. Cassino mentioned a few that aren't really on my playlist, but are good. I think muscle museum is great but I just don't happen to own it. They have a pretty large discography and if you listen to it you'll find diverse styles including pretty hard rock, electronica-type stuff, acoustic, and pop rock songs.alex kirk wrote:Give me their three best songs.scorch- wrote:It sounds like you've heard starlight and nothing else by them.

In Alex's defense, objectively identifying mediocre music doesn't make you a hipster.
It makes you civilized. Let's go Alex, there's a tapas and Pabst Blue Ribbon tasting event nearby that's also hosting Nickelback karaoke.

Swiss, I said Nickelback karaoke because Nickelback karaoke could ONLY be done ironically after a lot of drinking
And tapas is a Spanish food service/cuisine that I is apparently super trendy nowadays.
And the only reason I said PBR was because when I got to your apartment that one day there were like a billion PBR cans on your back porch =P
Damnit I'm horrible at this.
