black screen on startup
Alright so, i have windows 7 and whenever i startup moy computer it shows thr BIOS then the screen goes black right away but when i unplug and plug back in the hdmi cable the screen comes up for like 2 seconds an d then goes black again. I have tried taking out my video card and plugging it into original vga cable or whatever into the onboard card and it still doesnt work, it does the same exact thing. Any ideas on how to fix this? Would appreicate it, thanks.

I believe this is a motherboard issue. However, when you turn your computer on and the screen goes black, does your computer shut itself off? If so, then it is your power supply and you would need another one. If the former happens, buy a new motherboard. If it's the latter, you need a power supply.

have you checked to make sure your resolution is right, and what size monitor are you using?

Re: black screen on startup
I had a similar problem with my desktop monitor, and unfortunately, you are going to need a new monitor. I don't know the root of the problem, but it isn't the cord, or the video card, or the motherboard. Trust me, I got new everything for my desktop while trying to fix it. It ended up being replacing the monitor that fixed the problem, and this is what I recommend you do.

Re: black screen on startup
Take your brothers monitor and hook it up to your PC see if it works. If it still doesn't work, probably your MoBo. If it does work, it's your monitor.
