bandwidth allocating program

Post by ao_ »

I need a free and easy to use program to limit bandwidth from my router. In my ripe age of 26, I am not as tech saavy as I used to be, so the easier the better. Basically my netflix hogs too much bandwidth and causes some lag spikes when I am playing. I have 15 meg internet and cannot believe I still get lag. Thanks for the help compadres.

Close netflix before using dod?

You can limit bw through your play station 3 if you watch it through that.

When it comes to a wireless router you can't limit bandwidth for programs, I mean you can limit the bandwidth max yourself by why would you do that?

You should be able to limit bandwidth on certain ports, depending on how expensive the router is. I have the same issue. I can set my torrent download/upload limits to never cause lag in any games without shutting them off, but updating via steam or downloading via a browser always caps out my bw and causes lag. He's looking for a program that allows him to limit it so that there is a bw buffer with which to play games without lagging or shutting everything off.
