Agreed. Stile knows exactly what Im talking about. You may be able to bench press 350 but I bet you couldn't bench press me off of you when i'm in side control about to pass full mount and pound your douche bag face in. So who gives a shit about how much weight you can lift. Polaski got his ass kicked by Tim Syliva! and if you don't know who he is just google the goofy bastard.

lol wow this thread turned into a mess real quick.
I haven't worked out in about 2-3 months. I feel like a real pussy but I had a lot of catch up to do before the last few weeks of the school semester.

My goals are nothing like yours. My goal is to be faster at cycling. I don't lift to get hyooge and pull 700 pounds or to fight other bros. I lift for general conditioning.Jb_ wrote:Pictures plz. You speak so much about diets and lifting, lets see what "the man" looks like.
You called me out. Don't forget that, broski. I don't lift to be a muscle man, and apparently that's your criteria needed to be able to talk about lifting. Sears' goals differ from mine, hence him being a fan of mass + strength. Those aren't my goals. Doesn't mean I don't know just as much as he does from an empirical standpoint.
No quarrel here. Don't take my post as me saying "jiu jitsu is easy." No doubt it's hard and it teaches you certain aspects of strength. But for someone to call it the best is just way too much an exaggeration.stile wrote:Grappling may not be the best thing to do for strength gains, but it is the one of the best ways to learn how to use your whole body and work all your muscles. You'd be surprised how many people get confused on how to do an elbow escape, roll over their shoulder, or go inverted. Like you said the goals are different, you want to lift weights and go ride a bike, I want to choke people for a living. It is only as hard as you train. Where specifically? Foam rollers are great, especially for lower body.scorch- wrote:insane doms today, any suggestions? just stretch and get warm before lifting?
If you're in pain, I'd hold off on lifting all together. That's just temporary and it'll fade once you're in a consistent routine. I've never been a fan of lifting when really sore, especially for people who are relatively new to lifting. That's just me, though. If you are going to lift, I would just suggest you stretch up good and go light (less weight, and not lifting to failure).

It's not injury pain, just soreness. Quads, tris, and some soreness around the shoulder girdle/ribcage. Today is squats/bench/deadlift, I think I should be fine after warming up although I'm not looking forward to getting my arms in position to strap the bar for squats.

Re: What Guy?
Just see how you feel after a warm up set or two. If you think there's too much soreness, then just tone it back a bit. If you think you can handle it, try to stay on schedule with the routine.scorch- wrote:It's not injury pain, just soreness. Quads, tris, and some soreness around the shoulder girdle/ribcage. Re: What Guy?
Agreed, or try alternatives to using weight until the soreness goes away. I hurt my back doing squats when i first started b/c i had awful form. I did pistol squats for a couple of weeks until it was better.alex kirk wrote:Just see how you feel after a warm up set or two. If you think there's too much soreness, then just tone it back a bit. We got kicked off because we made a remark that was offensive to gay people I guess. Not knowing myself that someone on the team was. Nugz is the homosexual rep in the dod community so he kicked us both off for being insensitive. You can't expect in this community to not hear the word "gay".
